=======================
Howdy Ruth!

-> -> -> in the area & can get together.
->
-> -> HN> It is on the list for the future. If
-> -> HN> we get down there and you are in the
-> -> HN> area we'd sure try to get together!
->
-> -> For sure! as you know, there's lots of choices of places to eat in
-> -> Tucson, even more in the surrounding area. Last I knew, Don Teodoro's
-> -> was still going in Tombstone. Had my first taste of tortilla soup
there.
->
-> HN> Oh my gosh, the Tucson area has a huge
-> HN> selection of interesting places to eat!
-> HN> We always enjoyed exploring the offerings
-> HN> when we came to the area!
->
-> We never got to the half of them. Our budget was geared to the lower
-> priced stuff then; both girls were still home. Still, we could get good
-> strawberry slushies at eegees--and did from time to time. We also hit
-> the Yokahama Rice Bowl as a quick/easy way to get an inexpensive Asian
-> type meal. Went back a few years later; they weren't as good as we
-> remembered. Part of it was, we'd just moved back to the mainland from HI
-> and had gotten spoiled on good, cheap Asian there. (G)
->
I don't mind splurging on a meal out
now and then...and sometimes you get
what you pay for.
->
-> -> -> And you've shot pictures at the luthiers convention & otherwise, I
->
-> ->  HN> Of course!
->
-> -> Not at all surprised. (G)
->
-> HN> It is after all, what I do!
->
-> As you'll find me with needle, thread & fabric very nearby.
->
Hopefully your wrists will hold out for
many years yet!

-> -> -> Can she run a sewing machine & do them that way? Haven't heard
any
-> -> -> updates recently so I presume she's doing well. Planting a garden
for
->
-> -> HN> I'n not sure her hands are steady enough
-> ->  HN> to run a machine anymore. She's on oxygen
-> -> HN> 24 hours a day now and is much more frail.
->
-> -> That's too bad--if she's like most people, in her mind she can't see
-> -> that she's slowed down but her body knows. Can she hand piece if
someone
-> -> threads the needle? I'm not thinking of tiny little pieces, but
-> -> something like 6" or so squares might work.
->
-> HN> I do not know if she'd be able to
-> HN> do much. She has COPD and is on
-> HN> oxygen all the time and is pretty
-> HN> frail. Plus her vision is not very
->
-> Hard to see your parents aging, isn't it? I know, I've been dealing with
-> it a lot the past few years.
->
She's in her mid 80's and is pretty
frail, so I'm grateful for whatever
she feels like doing.

-> HN> good at all anymore, I'm pretty sure
-> HN> she is blind in one eye but won't
-> HN> admit to it. She no longer drives
->  HN> and I'm grateful for that!
->
-> I know the feeling. My mom hasn't driven in years & won't renew her
-> license next time it's due. Dad mostly drives around town, sometimes as
-> far as Kingston or Oneonta (both an hour away) but for anything longer,
-> someone else drives. Honestly, tho, I would rather have Steve do the
-> driving if we go out with them (and he does, much to my relief).
->
Mom knows she's not capable of driving
anymore so she's voluntarily stopped
and I am happy to know that!!

-> -> -> The not so fun part of growing up..................
->
-> -> HN> We are currently being reminded of
-> ->  HN> that...Anne's back went out while we
-> ->  HN> were walking in San Diego...and we
-> -> HN> are spending more time in the hotel
-> ->  HN> room than out exploring.
->
-> -> But, you're together, and away from home. (G)
->
-> HN> Yes, that is true and we are making
-> HN> the best of the situation, doing what
-> HN> Anne is capable of doing. Yesterday we
-> HN> went to Balboa Park, and I rented a
-> HN> wheel chair for her, when her back
-> HN> got "tired" she could sit in it and
-> HN> rest while I pushed the chair. We were
-> HN> able to visit 3 museums that way before
-> HN> she simply needed to get back to the
-> HN> hotel and lay down and rest the back.
->
-> As well as other parts of the body. She's still recovering from all that
-> was thrown at her last year so she needs the rest.
->
Yep, and we did a lot of that. When
her back got "tired" we'd head back
to the hotel and rest as long as she
needed.

-> HN> We did not rent a car this trip and
-> HN> taking cabs has worked out really
->  HN> well.
->
-> What about busses or trolleys?
->
We had originally planned on both of those
and San Diego has a good system..but when
her back is spasming, it's not the time
to find a bus stop and wait for a bus then
figure out the connections to get back to
the hotel...quicker, easier, and much safer
to get a cab.
chat with you soon!
