Pleasant surprises in out of the way places deserve a _bit_ of an
upward score. In the past I have spoken highly of the Chinese
restaurant in Betchoko; it's really not that great, just very good
for where it is. Same applies to the truck stop in Fort Providence
and for that matter the French place in High Level.

I am happy to report that over 23 years and 2 places I have had only
two truly horrendous tenants. Still I am happy I cashed in last
year; now if I could only figure out if I want to be in cash, gold
or the stock market. If the Mayans are right maybe I want to be in
canned goods and shotgun shells!

I also managed up to 80 places for others and would have maybe 2
truly horrendous tenants a year. I did steel myself successfully but
never relished it. I was very happy to quit that portfolio, although
I still mentor my successor.

Yeah, if a franchisee goes broke, the company throws in a management
team for a while and then re-sells the franchise to a second guy who
does well, did the restaurant fail if it never closed its doors to
the public?

If a guy buys place for say $200K, makes $100K for three years
running, gets tired and sells it for $175K, did it fail because he
quit and lost $25K?

Is it my imperfect memory or does its species name have the name
"foetidum" in it?

Cilantro is Coriandrum sativum. The similar tasting and related
culantro is Eryngium foetidum.

The roots are not available here (unless I were to grow my own); the
stems make a reasonable substitute.

That is so often the case; it's harder on the survivors who are
close. Support from family and friends can help a lot.

      3 oz brewed Lapsang Souchong tea,
           chilled
      1 oz freshly squeezed lemon
           juice
      1 oz Domaine de Canton ginger
           liqueur
      1 oz rye whiskey
        ds Angostura bitters
           Lemon twist

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine tea, lemon, ginger
liqueur, whisky, and bitters. Shake for 12 seconds. Strain into a
Collins glass filled with ice. Garnish with lemon twist and serve
immediately.
