Ärende: Another Ithaca Farmer's Market
======================================
Hi Ruth,

> Habenero peppers, carrots, onion, lime juice are the main ingredients.

The only thing that might cause him problems would be if any of those or other
ingredients contained HFCS or any corn product in the canned or bottled
variety.. If the above and all other ingredients were fresh, not bottled, I
doubt there would be a problem. If you look at say bottles of relish, pickles,
etc., even some of those contain it - Anyway, I'll hunt up the
recipe just to see what went into your hot sauce :)

>> had, but better to check :) He came close to eating a whole jar of

hehe He loved them, that's for sure.

Ah sounds like us here.. it's 9:22AM and it's already 75F.. I woke up around
8:30AM this morning and could feel the heat already building in our upstairs
bedroom.. The downstairs does stay so much cooler in this crazy weather :)

Sounds good and great that you can control things somewhat with diet. We had
sausage and peppers and fresh corn from the Farmer's market last night.

===Sausage and Peppers===
1 1/2 lbs. Sweet Italian Sausage
2 or 3 tablespoons water
2 Med. sized Italian green Peppers (or bell peppers) sliced 1 large vidalia
onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 teaspoon basil
optional: Touch of olive oil

Place the sausage links in a covered pan with water, poke each link with a fork
once, and simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes. Uncover the pan and add the
garlic and a touch of oil if necessary. Add the peppers and onions and cook
over med heat until the sausages are cooked through, browned and the vegetables
are limp. Serve on Italian rolls or 'as is'.

>> I checked our Wed. market beforehand since it had rained that
>> morning.. the folks putting it on said it would be there rain or no
>> rain :) Luckily for us, by 4pm the sun was blazing and had dried up
>> any hint of the earlier rain..

> Ours goes on unless the rain is a heavy thunderstorm with winds or
> there's a serious threat of a hurricane coming thru. They've had to do
> some very fast take downs when the weather has turned on them.

I bet.. we were a little surprised that the Elmira area had a tornado last
week.. luckily that's quite a ways from here though. When that happened, we
had lots of drenching rain and thunderstorms..

Indian Masala filled with potato curry:

>> > Sounds good but I'd have to watch the carbs from the potatoes.

>> Yes, I can understand that. I filled a number of them with a brie
>> like cheese we picked up at the farmer's market, as a snack the other
>> day.. that was great :)

> That sounds good; cheese is a carb free or very low carb snack for me so
> I've been eating more of it lately. It also gives me a dairy serving
> since we don't drink regular milk.

I'd see if I could find a breakdown of carbs in the dosas since they are
generally made with rice, ground very fine. I've been using ground brown rice
flour and self-ground lentils and had good results with that as well. The
dosas are poured in the pan and then spread out to a very very think pancake,
but it's still carbs .. :( I looked around on the web, and did see some
"low-carb" recipes for Dosa pancakes though :) Some of these were filled with
vegetable, chicken, or shrimp curries.. looks interesting.

Dosa fillings:
>> The chutney was great :) You can put anything in the dosas you want.
>> At the farmer's market, the woman making the dosas had the potato
>> curry and another type filling that I can't remember much of.. (g).

> Thanks, and glad you enjoyed the chutney. Last year was the first time I
> made it, may not be the last.

I'll have to try a dosa with the chutney filling.. should be good I'd think :)

Take care,
Janis
