In his case, he wore multiple hats. After the original owner passed
away, Dad was named editor. All it meant was he had more work to do for
the same pay, still answered to the same boss. Eighteen years later, he
said "I quit" just before the boss said "you're fired" in a
disagreement.  Dad was right but was an employee, not the
owner/publisher.

Yes, and feeding kids was top priority.

Definately! One week (before we had kids), after all the bills were
paid, we had enough money to buy 3/$1. pot pies and some hot dogs. After
that week, we vowed that no matter how tight money got, we'd never eat
them for a week straight again.

-> No, did that with the Swiss Army knives we got. Steve & I each have a
-> full size and a smaller one; I keep my small one in my purse (most of

Ours from the late 80s/early 90s are still fully functional as well.
Don't know if the girls still use theirs or not.

I think I only saw him on black & white tv, never at the theater.
Watercolor washes and such like?
