======================
Hi Nancy,

NB> hand NB>> I trust you at least jotted down some notes so that it CAN
 NB> be done NB>> again intentionally... ;)

RH> No, I didn't make any notes and probably should have.

NB> Well, just a little help there... this is what you wrote me, so it
NB> could be at least a mind jogger... doesn't have the amounts, though..
 NB> :)
 NB> " RH> I sauteed some onion & shitake
NB> " RH> mushrooms, steamed some spinach, grated swiss cheese and added
NB> some " RH> kiefer, nutmeg, a couple of eggs, country ham "scraps" &
 NB> mexican
NB> " RH> oregano to the the crust & baked it for about half an hour at
 NB> 350."

OK, that should jog my memory. I made something else with spinach last
week, somewhat based on what an Afghani friend told Steve he did with
lamb. Turned out, I was pretty close to what he did, just going on a
rough list of ingredients and suggestions. Another keeper.

 RH> I'm out of pie
RH> crusts right now so to make it again, I'll have to make some more
RH> crusts. It's handy to have some available in the freezer.

NB> Next project once the wrist is healed enough to deal with and you have
 NB> the time, eh...?

The time is there but the wrist isn't quite yet. I could use the right
hand for cutting in the fat, or get Steve to do it. (G)

 NB> NB>> End of the season... ;)

RH> The last few are ripening up on our kitchen window sill right now.
RH> We've had a few frosts so the plant would have died (with blossoms on)
RH> in a few days anyway. Tomorrow and Monday we're supposed to have highs
RH> in the low 70s--almost summer again. (G) Tuesday it'll drop to the 50s
 RH> for highs again.

NB> We're sliding into the normal weather for late fall now... Lows about
NB> freezing, highs in the high 40s and low 50s... some talk about next
NB> week getting a little warmer but not much. But we are supposed to be
NB> getting sunshine at least through Thanksgiving.. :)

We're actually running below normal in temps, about the same as you are
but we should be in the mid 60s. Supposedly we'll hit that on Thursday,
then by Saturday it'll be in the 50s again. Time for soups, stews and
other hot meals.

 RH> My orthopedic doctor was
RH> asking the other day if I'd done any quilting since my last visit and
RH> was happy to hear that I had. It was all machine done but had to
RH> rotary cut the pieces (with no wrist problems).

NB> Good news. :) Nice progress, too. :)

I'm thinking so. I still have to watch how much hand work I do during
the day and usually try to wear gloves when I'm out (to keep it warmer)
but otherwise things are going well.

NB> NB>> Oh, ok... Agreed on the bread machine, but that is a reasonable
NB> NB>> reason to be using it... :)

RH> I used it the other day to make dough for (hand shaped) rolls. I'll
RH> use the KA this next week to mix up/knead bread. Got some artisan
RH> breads we're using now but will need more bread in a few days so may
RH> as well go ahead and make it.

NB> Getting back into your normal routines is good. :)

Somewhat out of sorts this week but will return to normal next week.
Steve graduates in mid December and things will turn upside down again.

RH> ... There cannot be a crisis today; my schedule is already full.

NB> Didn't work for me this week... Got a call late Sunday night that the
NB> on-call agency nurse was sending MJ to the hospital for GI bleeding.
NB> It turned out not to be nearly so bad as perceived at the time, but it
NB> did disrupt the full schedule right through Friday. ;/ She's fine
NB> now, and back home now... but we had to cancel 3 of her appointments
 NB> and one of
NB> mine, and reschedule all but one of hers (a regular weekly)... and, as
NB> you can see, put me a week behind on replying to messages...

I've had weeks like that. The one in mid June was not fun.

Catch you later,
Ruth
