WN (airlinespeak for Southwest, not intuitive*) has carved
out its clientele, passengers who like folksy midamericaness
and who seek low fares. It delivers on the former, only
occasionally on the latter - it's almost always within 10%
one way or the other of the legacys' fares - and as often
more expensive as less; I will shell out the premium, if
there is one, on other airlines for the chance (variable
depending on carrier) of getting in first class.

for examples of why it is silly to believe everything you read
on the Internet. Even the "best" answer, which correctly gives
the reason why it's not SW, goes on a lunatic tangent regarding
why it is WN.

At the biggest airports, I usually get to skip the line and
then get scanned in a minute or less. My last encounter with
the men in blue lasted about a minute, while others had a
half-hour wait; this translated into time for a cup of yummy
oatmeal, some coffee (I needed it), and 6, I am not kidding,
pieces of peanut brittle. This doesn't mean I'm better than
others, just better documented. Funny that someone so jealous
of his privacy has given in and now has about none at all.

Why bother? If it shows up, fine; if not, I've had it a
hundred times, well, dozens anyway, fresh in Singapore and
Malaysia and maybe Indonesia, both fresh and frozen in the
US. And consider whom I am with - kissing is not an issue,
but I doubt she'll even let me in the same room if I smell
of durian.

Why evil, why not just annoyed, like a cat.

Kathy Bates' Hot Curried Crab Dip
categories: celebrity, starter
yield: 1 batch

1 md green pepper, chopped
3 green onions, chopped
2 cn condensed cream of mushroom soup
2 sm cn crabmeat, drained
2 eggs, well beaten
3 Tb chopped pimentos
2 Tb curry powder

Wilt the green pepper and onions in butter. Add the
soup and bring to a boil. Add the crabmeat and boil
2 min. Remove from heat and stir in the eggs, pimentos,
and curry powder. Serve in a chafing dish with Melba
rounds.
