I didn't sleep last night - on the plane I noticed in the US
magazine that they've just started stocking Courvoisier (again)
and Mr. Pibb, so I asked for a Courvoisier and was informed
that no such thing, so I changed my order to Pibb. It was worse
than I remembered, tasting like carbonated maraschino cherry
juice, and WITH MORE CAFFEINEZZZZZ. My mistake, I didn't
counteract this with alcohol or Benadryl. My schedule is kind
of flipped now, and I anticipate having an energy crash round
about dinnertime: the famous Ann, another Ann, invited herself
over, and we're having scotch broth, as there are leftover lamb
roast, parsnips and potatoes in the fridge and onions and barley
elsewhere in the house, not much else but Bass, see next post.

Oh sure, but I'd have dissuaded them from buying them if I could,
even if I wanted them.

We'll see next season if this midwest drought continues.

Nachos

servings: 8

500 g plain nachos (tortilla chips)
500 g ground beef
salsa
250 g cheddar cheese
jalapenos
sour cream
300 g kidney beans, drained, rinsed
1 onion, finely chopped
35 g taco seasoning
chili powder
2 Tb tomato paste
1/2 c coriander leaves

Cook and stir ground beef and onion over medium heat
until meat is crumbly and no longer pink (5-10 min).

Add kidney beans, chili powder, seasoning, tomato
paste, and 1/4 c water.

Simmer 5 min until thick. Stir in coriander leaves.

Arrange nachos on a plate. Top with cheese, minced
beef and beans. Bake until cheese is melted, 5-10 min.

Top with salsa, sour cream, and jalapenos and serve.
