hehe.. well we could put a cot in the kitchen, it's big enough.  Then you'd be
as closer still. :)  Whatever works for you is fine by me.

The restaurant is not that great.. it's been noted by others as well that the
published cookbooks were "better" than the food served there.. so I have to
agree with you.  Though our food was good that one time I went at the last
picnic, it's not on my list of things to do again (g).

Yes, sometimes it's very noticeable.. when I use it, the spices I use generally
take care of that though.  Btw, I found a way to make a good Olive oil and
garlic sauce where you'd normally use gluten pasta water in the sauce.. I just
grab a cup or so of the cooking water after the non-gluten macaroni has been in
the pot for maybe 3-4 minutes. That way, the water has smaller amounts of the
rice, or whatever starch in the water.. if you wait much longer, the water
becomes that cloudy stuff that you wouldn't want to add to anything.  For
things like pasta e fagioli, I sometimes cook the macaroni in a separate pot
for maybe half the cooking time, drain it and then add it to the pasta e
fagioli pot.

==Gluten-Free Pasta e Fagioli==
Ingredients:
1 carrot, minced
1 stalk celery, minced
3 or 4 pieces of bacon, minced
1 onion, minced
1 clove garlic, minced
(I put all of the above in my oskar chopper and mince them easily)

1 can cannellini beans
2 cans of water
Olive oil
Small macaroni
salt, pepper to taste.

Heat about 2 tablespoons olive oil in a sauce pan and when hot add the minced
vegetables and bacon.  Saute for 4 or 5 minutes.

Add the beans to the pot, breaking up a few with your wooden spoon as you add
them to the pot.  Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes.

Start the pot of water for the macaroni.  When it comes to a boil, add a
tablespoon salt and the macaroni.  Cook for half the time or a bit more (say 6
minutes for 10 minutes cooking time) on the package, then drain.  Add the
semi-cooked macaroni to the sauce pan and continue cooking until the pasta e
fagioli is thickened to desired consistency and macaroni is cooked.
