 dd->       Title: Leather Britches Beans (Fodder Beans)

 ->   String very full beans as you would for cooking, but do not
 ->   break them. Thread beans on twine, using just enough beans

 ->   minutes. Drain on newspaper. The brine will keep bugs away
 ->   from your beans. Hang the strings of beans on wire or rope
 ->   in a dry place for at least three weeks. Make sure they are

 ->   Prior to cooking the dried beans, pour lots of boiling water
 ->   over the beans and soak overnight. In the morning, wash the
 ->   beans well and cover with water in a pan. Cook for 2 hours;
 ->   then add salt, lard or bacon grease, and pepper. Finish
 ->   cooking about 2 hours more, adding water as needed.

Sometimes I save recipes for their curiosity value or for historical reasons.
Like some of the recipes from the Foxfire series of books - which I would never
essay and attempt to make. But, which are interesting, nonetheless. And I *had*
mentioned fodder in the body of the post.   Bv)=

BTW - the leather breeches beans recipe was from page 175 of the original
Foxfire book.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Sweet Potato Cobbler
 Categories: Pies, Potatoes, Dairy, Breads
      Yield: 6 servings

      2 c  Cooked, diced sweet potatoes
    2/3 c  Molasses
    1/4 c  Butter
    1/2 c  Milk
    1/2 ts Ground ginger
        pn Salt
      1    Recipe biscuit dough

  Mix together all the ingredients except the dough and
  bring to a boil. 

  Cut part of rolled dough into cubes and drop into boiling
  mixture. Cut remaining dough in thin slices and place on
  top.

  Put the pan in oven and bake at 400øF/205øC until the
  crust begins to brown.

  Yield: 6 servings
