That would make sense as doves are closely related to pigeons - AKA "flying
rats".

Pigeons and doves constitute the bird family Columbidae within the order
Columbiformes, which include some 300 species of near passerines. In general
parlance the terms "dove" and "pigeon" are used somewhat interchangeably. In
ornithological practice, there is a tendency for "dove" to be used for smaller
species and "pigeon" for larger ones, but this is in no way consistently
applied, and historically the common names  for these birds involve a great
deal of variation between the terms "dove" and "pigeon." This family occurs
worldwide, but the greatest variety is in the Indomalaya and Australasia
ecozones. Young doves and pigeons are called "squabs."

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Barbecued Dove
 Categories: Bbq, Game, Sauces
      Yield: 4 servings

     16    Dove breasts
      1 md Yellow onion
  1 1/2 c  Catsup
    2/3 c  Brown sugar
      2 cl Garlic; crushed
      1 tb Worcestershire sauce
      1 tb Vinegar or lemon juice
      8 dr Hot pepper sauce, or more!
 
  Combine in a mixing bowl and stir. Brush sauce on breasts
  repeatedly as they cook on the grill. Grill 3 to 5 minutes,
  then turn and grill another minute. Wild rice goes great
  with these babies.
