I've had a big messy mess schedule lately, so I've done a
huge hiatus from Lasix when I need to, followed by a huge
overdose (yesterday, after one such cycle I peed 1.6 L in
two hours).

Today's dilemma.

I was supposed to fly on the 1009 Providence to Washington
connecting with the 1715 to San Diego. The plan was to eat
a Lasix shortly before boarding the 1009, doing one bath run
on the plane; then three or four more at the airport and
being finished before getting on the longhaul. The 1009 was
cancelled, so I was happy to get the 1420 in first class.
So I was ready to get the Lasix out (eat it at 9, be 80% done
before getting on the plane, then having one bathroom run on
the plane, easy to do from first class) - but I thought to
get on the Website - yep, the 1420 was cancelled as well. So
now I am waiting for the 1000 train to Boston from this town
in Rhode Island that I can't spell easily, getting to South
Station at 1116, thence the bus to BOS, then hoping to get
the 1215 to Dulles, but failing that, they've saved a seat
for me on the 1408, which will get me in in time for my long
flight. But these arrangements are all short-notice, so all
the first-class seats will be gone, and all the seats near
the bathrooms will be gone, and there are a total of 20 min
leeway split between South Station and the airport. So I
figure I'll get my Lasix in later, but on the plane I retain
water anyway, so I'll be in bad shape, all puffy, by the time
I get to San Diego. Assuming that everything else goes all right.

Peppermint Patty's Prune Whip
cat: children, dessert
servings: 8

1 lb pk dried prunes
Water to cover
1/3 c sugar
1/2 pt whipping cream
Sugar to taste
1/2 ts vanilla

Soak prunes for at least an hour in the water.

Add 1/3 c sugar, bring to a boil, and simmer (covered) for about
an hour or until prunes are puffy and tender.

Cool. Cut each prune in quarters, removing seeds. Chill in
refrigerator.

Beat cream until it begins to thicken, add 1/2 to 1 ts sugar and
the vanilla. Fold in chilled prunes.
