It can apply to the mundane stuff too. How many cheese slicers (the wire
and basic metal handle ones) have you had where the wire breaks after a
few uses? How many bit more expensive, heavier duty ones have lasted for
years? I bought a couple of better ones some years ago that are still
going strong.

That was their rational but we had to go overnight with fridge stuff in
coolers at least a couple of times. Hand washing dishes is something
that I'd rather not do in great amounts because of my wrists so the
dishwasher is a "must have" for me. That's why we looked at the only
seminary housing that had dishwashers and rejected any off campus place
that didn't have. Found a place that had, it's off campus and only a 10
minute walk from school.

That's why I keep the older ones around. Got a stainless steel 2 cup at
the Amish store in PA; it definately speeds up big jobs, like making
bread. (G)

 RH> For me it depends.  If it's measured in TBs I use a tablespoon to make

If it's 4, 8, 12 TbSP, the liquid cup is easy--1/4, 1/2 & 3/4. Others I
eyeball pretty accurately.

Hickory nut paste is wierd; chestnut paste (especially for European
Christmas baking) isn't wierd.
