I can get a store brand of Dorito type chips right across the street 
from me @99c/decent sized (three or more servings) bag, no need for 
coupons there. And they are pretty decent - also the Hot Pork Skins 
@99c/bag.

County Market sends out a booklet in a Mail South mailer that hits my 
mailbox around the first of every month. There are usually two or three 
coupons in it for really good prices on things I use anyway. So, the 
first time I go to one of their stores for something else - I burn 
through the coupons. This month I got two medium-size bottles of ALL 
liquid detergent for less than a single the large size - 50% more soap 
for 25% less $$$. I like deals like that. They regularly have coupons 
for milk, eggs, juice, bratwurst, bacon, etc.

If you can't save $$$, what's the point. Beyond time wasting and fooling
yourself, that is.   Bv)=

If I am in a checkout lane behind someone with a purse or wallet bulging
with coupons (they are usually obvious) and more than a few items in the
trolley - I look for another checkout lane. Those old trout take lots of
cashier time (the cashiers get paid for it) and more than reasonable 
time from those behind the couponer in line (those folks do *NOT* get 
paid or compensated for the time lost).

There is also an outfit called "Red Plum" which does coupons in the 
local fish-wrapper on Sundays. They, I found, are wider than just my 
local area. Last Sunday there were coupons for McD's, Popeyes, and Long 
John Silver - all places I will visit ... especially if I have a coupon 
to save some gelt. I read the Popeye's coupons and they were "Good at 
all Chicago-land Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits locations". 

However, I found I had two iterations of the Red Plum pamphlet - one 
from the Chicago Tribune. But, my local version didn't have the Popeyes 
coupons. It did have Mickey D's, LJS, and Steak & Shake (which are not 
AFAIK in Chicago). And the coupons for the Sign of the Clown and the 
Fishy joint are nationwide -- double sets for me.   Bv)=

      Title: Long John Silver's Batter
 Categories: Five, Breads, Coatings
      Yield: 1 batch

           Bisquick
           Pancake mix
           Club soda
 
  This is a good fake for LJS fish batter. It is also a good
  and quick to make tempura batter. - UDD

  With wire whisk whip together equal parts Bisquick & boxed
  pancake mix with club soda till it is the consistency of
  buttermilk. Moisten fish filets in water & then coat
  lightly but evenly in flour.

  Let dry on waxed paper 5 minutes. 

  Spear pieces one at a time with tip of sharp knife & coat in
  batter. Deep fry in 375øF/190øC oil, about 4 minutes each
  side, till crispy and browned. Do not use tongs or coating
  will break apart.
