It definately will be quite a while before they recover fully. The
country is going to take a major hit economically which will affect the
world market as well. One of our friends at church has a brother over
there; he checked in OK. I've got a friend from college that married a
Japanese man; I think they live in the Tokyo area. I'll have to try to
e-mail her to see how she's doing.

Saw the Sky Bars and NECCOs into Lowe's last year, as well as other old
time candies (forgot what they were) so got some. Steve introduced me to
Ice Cubes--a chocolate candy--shortly after we met. They were one of his
favorites but I don't see them any more.

Smae here, or Cinnamint, those few times I was able to buy gum. A nickle
for a 5 pack, then they raised the price to a dime but put 7 sticks in
the pack.

That would be a good one. We've got the Complete Calvin & Hobbs set,
and, I think, a Far Side but no Doonsebury.

Looks good. My MIL gave me a simple but good beet recipe a while back.
It's called Sour Cream Beets but I sub plain yogurt for the sour cream.
Julienne a can of beet slices and dice up half a red onion. Marinade
that overnight in a quarter cup each sugar and vinegar. Drain, add sour
cream (or yogurt) to taste, mix, chill, serve.
