Too bad - someday I want to meet your luthier
friends. Does the convention offer discounted
hotel rooms? Not that the plane fares are showing
any indication of getting any better.

I may try to use some miles for me and show up June 24
anyway, but who knows. I'll figure things out at
some point.

That's fairly big for a nondiabetic but well within
range for someone labeled diabetic.

I hope that turns out to be all right - one of
the few good things I can say about my own health
is that my liver and kidneys have been so far
quite fine.

I fiddle with music but seldom use recipes at all!

Clapshot (an Orcadian potato and turnip (swede) dish)
cat: Scot, side
yield: 100 servings (2 1/2 lb)

1 lb potatoes
1 lb swede
1 md onion, finely chopped
1 tb chopped chives
Butter and milk
Salt and pepper

Peel the potatoes and swede. Cut both into roughly the same size
pieces. Put into a deep pan with the onions. Add boiling water to
cover and simmer gently until the ingredients are just soft. Drain
off the cooking liquor.

Mash everything thoroughly, adding chives and enough milk and butter
to make a light consistency. Season well with salt and pepper. Serve
with cheese as a meal, or with haggis. Clapshot will accompany many
stews or fried meats.
