Now I have had my undercarriage overhauled I hope to have a new lease
on life.  All my kids have united in telling me to "take it easy!",
and currently it is daughter Lee's turn to guard me.  Today I managed
to make around the block before being shepherded back inside, to put
my feet up.  The pain is already less than it was immediately before
the operation.

The co-pilot fed all the damage parameters into the plane's computer,
to get the result, "Sorry, mate, you've had it!  You will crash."
Then he stretched the estimated damage figures to the most favourable,
and tried again, to get the 3900m requirement for landing, and knowing
Singapore was 4000, they decided to "give it a go".

Before the plane had even landed, there were news reports that it had
crashed, with bits of the engine nacelle being shown on TV as
evidence.  That had resulted in Qantas shares nose-diving, and its
chairman nearly having a heart attack.  The pilot's wife was also
understandably nervous, but she had confidence in her husband.

I sincerely hope that Qantas suitably recognises the skill of that
pilot, Richard De Crespigny.

Everybody has lost something substantial.
 
And now I see that an Air France A380 has had a whoops with its big
wings, hitting a littly at one of your crowded airports.  Also that
your air controllers are sleeping on the job.

Later in the year, Leonore and one of her even blinder friends is due
to hit USA.  What more could your country take!

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Indian Pudding for a Crowd
 Categories: Puddings
      Yield: 20 Servings
 
      7 pt Milk
  1 3/4 c  Yellow cornmeal
      3 oz Butter; melted
  1 1/2 c  Molasses
    1/2 c  Brown sugar
      1 tb Vanilla
      1 tb Salt
  1 1/2 tb Cinnamon
      1 ts Ginger powder
      1 ds Clove powder
      7    Eggs
 
  Oven at 350F.
  
  Scald milk; sprinkle cornmeal over, stirring constantly. Cook over
  lowest heat for 20 min, stirring often. Remove from heat.
  
  Combine all other ingredients; beat well. Add to cornmeal mixture.
  Put into greased baking dish and put this dish into a large pan of
  hot water. Bake
       90    min.
  
  Serve with cream or ice cream.
  
  This is my version as served to the Denver Broncos fans (by New
  England Patriots fans) at the American Legion post in Aurora,
  Colorado, on the occasion of the Bronco-Patriot game 10-6-97.
