It's kind of neat observing the bug-eye takes, etc. I get from people when I
inform them that I don't have a (insert social media here) account and don't
want one. Or, that I don't text so if they want to give me a message call the
number that they were going to send the text to and speak actual words to me.
 
Every few days I get an e-mail from someone advising me that they have dropped
their phone service via their cable provider due to connectivity or other
problems. Or that they have dropped their land line phones altogether. And I
wonder whatever prompted them to quit Ma Bell in favour of $cumCa$t or one of
their cousins - who are, after all, in the entertainment business not the phone
business. And/or why they think that the land line is not a valuable
alternative means of communication.

I have a cell phone for my personal convenience. I also have kept my Ma Bell
landline telephone with basic service ... which costs me all of U$20/month and
is handy for making calls in a general power outage as the TelCo phones are
powered independently of the electrical grid - unlike the cell towers.

I am so anti "social media" and so-called "connectivity improvements" that I am
considering asking Swisher for an e-mail account with luddites.org.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Aquavit - Water of Life
 Categories: Five, Vegetables, Booze, Beverages
      Yield: 1 quart

           Flowers of St. John's Wort
      1 qt Vodka; or more (at least 80
           - proof)

  EQUIPMENT: 2 quart Mason Jars, a basket for gathering
  a fine sieve, cheesecloth or clean dish towel

  Eyeball your jar and plan to fill 3/4 of it with flowers.

  Harvest on a sunny morning after the dew has evaporated
  but before the plants have spent their vitality surviving
  the hot mid-day sun.

  Once you’ve gathered enough flowers (only the most lovely
  and vibrant ones of course) and your fingers are slightly
  sticky and reddish from the plant flavonoids, spread those
  beauties out in a shady place for a half hour or so to let
  the little critters crawl out before putting them in your
  jar (bug juice aquavit is a whole other beast).

  Fill your jar with the little orbs of light and cover
  completely with vodka.

  Give it a loving shake and store in a cool, shady place
  for a few days-notice the vodka begin to turn a florescent
  red within an hour-magic.

  After a few days strain the flowers off with a fine sieve
  lined with cheesecloth into your second jar and compost
  your flowers.

  Label your jar so the kiddies don’t think it’s cranberry
  juice.
