==================================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> It certainly was a good way to get one thinking in the language,
NB> even NB>> if not quite as good as true immersion... we had enough
NB> vocabulary NB>> under our belts that we could do pretty well.. :)

RH> And, a good understanding of the grammar at that point as well.

 NB> That, too... :)

Always a help.

NB> second semester and NB>> the teacher put us both into third year
NB> french... ;) Spanish was NB>> probably also offered at that latter
NB> school, but I don't think any NB>> other languages were offered at
 NB> the school I started in... :)

RH> I suspect your schools were bigger than the one I went to--we had no
RH> AP type classes, only a couple of teachers for each major subject and
RH> one each for art, vocal music, instrumental music, each language, home
 RH> ec, shop, etc.

NB> Only the one I had my senior year at... The school I came from was
NB> much smaller than yours... It had one teacher for each major subject,
 NB> who
NB> took on other enrichment ones, only one teacher for all languages...
NB> and the principal helped teach courses... ;) We had maybe 150
 NB> students
 NB> total for grades 7 - 12.

Private school? I went to public school for K-12. Maybe about 7-800
students in K-12.

RH> When we moved back to the States from Germany, Rachel
RH> started her freshman year of high school a couple of months later. She
RH> started with Latin, but only had one semester because of the move from
RH> MA to AZ. She finished with German as Latin wasn't an option in AZ
RH> until the year after she graduated. Then Deborah took 2 years of it.

NB> Different school systems have different curricula... and public
NB> schools often have different priorities than private ones. :)

Our girls went to public schools but in several different states and
DoDDS in Germany. DoDDS was closest to having the same things in
Frankfurt and Berlin but TX did not have the same curriculum in San
Angelo as they did in Copperas Cove as they did on Fort Hood.

RH> We're getting rain, with a freeze warning but the mountains got snow.
RH> Ny sweaters are still within easy grabs, still have some soups and
RH> stuff like that in the freezer. I pulled out a turkey soup yesterday to
RH> use tomorrow--we probably won't get out of the 50s so it'll be a good
RH> day for soup. It's washing all the pollen out of the air tho.

NB> Rain isn't all a bad thing... (G) Even with the colder snap, the
NB> daffodils and tulips are growing quickly... And the forget-me-nots in
NB> my neighbor's yard are starting to bloom.. The maple trees are
NB> shedding their leaf covers all over, and starting to leaf out... It
 NB> looks like
NB> winter is going to have to let go after all.. ;)

We've got a lot blooming now but it's still cold--today is only in the
mid 50s and has been rainy. Usual temps are in the upper 70s for this
time of year in this part of the state.

NB> RH>> And still in a holding pattern.
NB> NB>> We prayed for that in church yesterday... and for trust to wait
NB> on NB>> God's timing and peace in the situation... :)

RH> Thanks, its been a good test of patience. DMV has had the paperwork
RH> about 4 weeks now so hopefully we'll hear from them soon.

 NB> Hopefully.

Do you hear the Jeopardy "think music" in the background? (G)

NB> RH>> chapel--he will be in the neighborhood then.
NB> NB>> That makes sense... if there isn't any rush on it, combining
NB> things is NB>> a good thing... Of course, if he's itching for a good
 NB> walk.... (G)

RH> He walked over yesterday--and found they're closed Mondays so went
RH> today. Got both hard & soft wheat plus oats--a rather heavy bag with
RH> all 3 bags of stuff. But, now we're set for a bit longer.

NB> He was itching for a good walk... and got two into the bargain.. :)
NB> And, yes, that'll keep you for a while on that... :)

We can bake quite a bit now. He also brought home a loaf of sourdough
rye bread from the farmer's market today.

Catch you later,
Ruth
