And I'm some years behind you so my early "music appreciation" really
began with the British invasion. Our girls liked to listen to an
"oldies" station in AZ; it was music I remembered from junior high to
college. From time to time they'd put in a number from the late
80s'early 90s; once when they did, Rachel commented that she didn't
think of it as an oldie as she remembered listening to it while we were
stationed in Germany.

And the latter is what fits into the "noise" category for me, can't even
call it music.

Sounds like a case of YMMV from mine.

We're not on sat radio now so can't get them. We used to listen to
"Praire Home Companion" almost every week; our girls used to like the
commercials for Cafe Boef, Be-Bop-a-Re-Bop Rhubarb Pie and such like.

 special pillows, etc. I trigger over to 40s on 4 or Real Jazz (67)
 or Symphony Hall (76).

It varies with us--long trips, yes, we do have it on as background but
not always for in town/Raleigh run around.

We've got a lot of gospel quartet and single artist tracks. Every so
often when we've got the radio on, we'll catch some good preaching too,
especially when we find a station that has the late J.Vernon McGee
preaching. He was really good; you might have caught some of his
preaching.

Our Aldi's isn't that big so doesn't carry a lot of things. I've found
some of their own name brand stuff OK, some I'd just as soon leave on
the shelf. I don't like the way they package their produce in so much
plastic; it goes bad faster. I also like to see what I'm getting and I
can't always with some of the produce wrappers.
