You must live in a radio desert. My NPR stations give me a 4 hour block of
"Morning Edition" national/world news - interspersed with state/local reports.
In the afternoons a two to three hour block of "All Things Considered" - same
way.

At least one of the local AM stations is an ALL chin-music format - mostly news
with some blocks of yatta-ta yatta-ta and call-ins.

Alton Brown would be a lot better (in my opinion) if he would ditch the corny
schtick routines and just present his subject. My take on Ms. Deen is that
saccharine in large doses is *very* bitter. Although she has some pretty good
recipes. Sort of like George Liberace's brother Lee was a very good piano
picker so long as I didn't have to watch him do it.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Pork Chops w/Brown Rice
 Categories: Pork, Vegetables, Rice, Poultry
      Yield: 4 servings
 
      4    (3 oz ea) boneless pork loin
           Chops; 3/4" thick
      2 ts Seasoned pepper blend
      1 tb Olive oil
      3 c  Vegetables; such as broccoli
           - carrots, mushrooms, onions
           - and/or sweet peppers, in
           - bite-size pieces
     14 oz Can chicken broth
      2 c  Uncooked instant brown rice
    1/4 c  Roasted red pepper strips
           Fresh oregano (opt)
 
  Sprinkle both sides of chops with the seasoned pepper blend.
  In a large skillet, cook chops in hot oil over medium heat
  for 5 minutes. Turn chops. Cook for 3 to 7 minutes more or
  until slightly pink in the center and juices run clear.
  Remove chops from skillet; cover and keep warm.
  
  Add vegetables, broth, and rice to skillet. Bring to
  boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes or
  until rice is tender and vegetables are crisp-tender. Return
  pork chops to skillet; cover and heat through. Garnish with
  roasted red pepper strips.
  
  Makes 4 servings.
