The gums are toughening up. All the holes where the teeth used to be have
pretty much filled themselves in - except for where the two rear molars were. I
suspect that will take some time as the holes were bigger. When those have
filled in I'll make a trip to the dental lab to be fitted for a lower plate.

As it is, I am having more success with sausage, bacon, burgers and some
veggies - but not celery or raw carrots. Even toast doesn't give me the

True, but then, my diet generally would make an RD wince. I am, however, losing
more weight. Mostly due to reduced intake, I think. Anyway, my Dickies are
fitting more loosely these days.

I was discussing a newly re-opened chilli parlour yesterday with a fellow
chilli cook and he said that he had heard many comments that the chilli is
"really greasy". I retorted "It's CHILLI f'crysakes! It's supposed to be oily."
I've eaten there since the re-opening and do not find the chilli at all greasy.
In fact it could use a touch (or two) more oil. Providence save us from the
"fat" Nazis.

Medicare doesn't cover dental and I have no dental insurance. I had a plan
through work but it didn't meet even the minimum standards of Affordable Care
Act (and was a bad joke in other ways) so it was dropped. I am going through
the "Doc-In-A-Box" clinic (Capitol Community Health Care). And will visit an
area dental lab for the dentures. Said lab also offers extractions and dentures
- all in one day. But, my mind rebelled at that.

Another one I'll have to wait on until I get the store-boughts installed. But,
I can do this:

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Cheddar-Chipotle Leftover Mashed Potatoes
 Categories: Potatoes, Cheese, Herbs, Dairy
      Yield: 6 servings

      3 c  Mashed, white potatoes *
    1/2 c  Cheddar cheese; shredded *
      1 tb Canned chipotle peppers;
           - fine chopped
      1 ts Dehydrated onion flakes
      1 ts Dehydrated garlic flakes
    1/2 ts Dill
    1/2 ts Rosemary
           Salt & black pepper
    1/2 c  Milk; if necessary (if
           - potatoes are too thick)

  Add chipotle peppers, onion and garlic flakes, dill and
  rosemary to 3 cups of mashed potatoes. If you need a bit
  of milk to loosen the potatoes, do so now. Add cheddar
  cheese and blend. Add salt and pepper to taste. 

  Spoon mixture into oven proof dish and place under broiler
  until lightly browned.

  Great with pork chops or steak and a spinach salad.

  Serves 5 or 6

  * You may want to use a good brand of instant mashed
  potatoes for this recipe. I recommend Betty Crocker brand.
  Prepare potatoes according to package directions, then
  proceed with recipe.

  * Buying packaged shredded cheddar cheese makes this chore
  easy, just open and pour; however, you can save money by
  shredding bulk cheese yourself.
