===================
Hi Nancy,

NB> ;) NB>> Or they are simply busier as a matter of course... ;)

RH> Being a chain, they're naturally busier. People know the quality (or
RH> lack of) in a chain place and tend to go there instead of trying
 RH> independent places.

NB> Some people, anyway... :) The chains do still have lulls, if not as
NB> noticeable or as dependable, though...

Yes, I imagine if we'd walked in about 2:30 in the afternoon, they'd be
rather quiet. That is, during the week, most likely a different story on
week ends, with probably a major crowd on Sunday at that time.

RH> We know TR quality & prices--the prices fit our
RH> budget better than The Angus Barn in Raleigh but they both have top
RH> quality meats. I think TR meat may be a slight bit lower in quality
RH> than TAB but we've never had a bad steak at the various TRs we've
RH> eaten at in several different states.

NB> I've gotten so that I will take a chance on a likely looking Asian
NB> buffet rather than go to a chain restaurant... but then that's the
NB> sort of food I prefer, too... :)

Depends on the chain, the time we have or want to take, etc. Sometimes
we don't want to take the time, even that a buffet would entail. OTOH,
we stopped for a (slightly) early lunch at Chubby's BBQ in MD on the way
south last month. We'd stopped on the way north in May, knew they were
good and when we saw the sign advertising the newest addition to the
menu (pastrami), we had to give it a try. (G)

NB> RH>> At least one gate has to stay open all the time.
NB> NB>> I figured that much, but don't know which of the three main
NB> gates NB>> would be the one, or if they all stay open all the time...

RH> Each post differs on that. Depends on the world situation, local
RH> situation and various other factors.

 NB> Makes sense... :)

Been there, lived on post enough to do that, and not get a tee shirt.
(G)

NB> being NB>> inside and not having to deal with the gate hassles is a
 NB> good thing. NB>> :)

RH> Some of Steve's co-workers never made it to work on the 12th or 13th.
RH> I'd made some sourdough bagels on the 10th so he took some in to work
RH> for those that may have missed breakfast. Down side of living on post
RH> was that delivery trucks were caught in the traffic jams so PX and
RH> commissary ran a bit short on some items. Hoarders didn't help but
RH> deliveries got back to (the new) normal in a week or so.

NB> Emergency situations change things, but only for the duration... :)

Yes, within a couple of weeks, security had eased off somewhat, only to
be tightened again, briefly, when war was declared in Afghanistan. It
did ease off a bit some time later but we couldn't just sail thru the
gate any more.

Catch you later,
Ruth
