I didn't have a problem with the pain pills - I didn't really need any after I
got the gall bladder out. The post-op antibiotics were not especially onerous
-- what tweaked me the most was waiting for the incision to quit draining and
get the apparatus, hose, etc removed and the staples out of the incision.

That's good to know. Hang in there. And remember, at our advanced years we do
not knit back together as rapidly as when we were mere children (in people
years).

Yeah, well, you're mostly coherent.

I found this recipe off a search for "post-gallbladder removal recipes" and
have adopted it as pretty darned good. Modifying as I went along, of course.
The original didn't call for chilies mixed with the tomatoes - but, I had those
on hand .... so, and I had the dried herbs but not the fresh. The quantities
are the standard recommended when using dried in place of fresh. I might add a
bit of dried sage sometime in future when I make this again. And I *will* be
making it again.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: 20 Minute Chicken Creole
 Categories: Poultry, Vegetables, Chilies, Herbs
      Yield: 4 Servings

           Nonstick spray
      1 lb Chicken; skinned, boned, in
           - 1" strips
 14 1/2 oz Can diced tomatoes w/green
           - chilies
      1 c  Heinz chilli sauce
  1 1/2 c  Chopped bell peppers
    1/2 c  Celery, chopped
    1/2 c  Onion; chopped
      2 cl Minced garlic
      1 tb Fresh basil
           +=OR=+ 
      1 ts Dried basil; crumbled
      1 tb Fresh parsley
           +=OR=+ 
      1 ts Dried parsley
    1/2 ts Crushed red pepper
    1/4 ts Salt 

  Spray a deep skillet with nonstick spray coating. Preheat
  pan over high heat.

  Cook chicken in hot skillet, stirring, for 3-5 minutes, or
  until no longer pink. Reduce heat.

  Add tomatoes and their juice, chilli sauce, bell pepper,
  celery, onion, garlic, basil, parsley, crushed red pepper,
  and salt. Bring to boiling; reduce heat and simmer,
  covered, for 10 minutes.

  Serve over hot cooked rice or whole wheat pasta.

  Yield: 4 servings
