Yes, I remember when the ADA was passed--I think we were in Berlin at
the time--and reading about everybody complaining about how to comply
with it. Old construction is hard to adapt, new can have handicap access
built in as part of the design.

They were, but Mom had cooked on nothing but gas so had to learn a whole
new technique. A couple of her favorite features were the plug in
griddle and coil in a well that could be used for deep frying or brought
to the surface to use as an extra unit. She lost both of those in the
remodel job some 20 years later as the new stove didn't have them, but a
self cleaning oven (which the older one lacked).

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea. Or, toss all of them and get a new one.
Dad isn't cooking any more so he wouldn't really know at this point.

They got some good paring knives after I was gone (some Rada cutlery,
some others) but put them in the dishwasher, thus pretty much ruining
the handles and dulling the blades. Can't win up there!

So we can have our choice. I think Steve prefers the roast turkey for
sandwiches--that's about the only time he will put mayo on a sandwich.
