Hi Ruth,

>>> straight, and so thick.. meanwhile my hair is so much thinner than
>>> hers, I have to watch the timing for such products carefully.

>> > But, better hair than no hair, especially in colder climates. (G)

>> haha.. very true... :)

> A warm hat helps either situation tho.

Yes :) I have a few somewhere here... have to dig them up before we get really
cold weather. I _think_ I know where they are haha I'm laughing because Ron
always says I'm remembering places I kept things like 20 years ago, not
currently :) :) Brain warp I guess :)

>>> Aw that's must have been so cute :) I bet you have some neat pictures
>>> :)

>> > We did, and they're floating around somewhere, along with a zillion
>> > others. One nice thing about digital pictures is that we don't have
>> so > many more to put into photo albums--eventually.

>> Yes.. same here. Speaking of old pictures, this week we found some of
>> my oldest grandson who was then a maybe 5 or so (he's in college now)
>> and he was playing with Toby who was just a little pup.. that was neat
>> finding them.

> Should scan it and e-mail him a copy; I'm sure he'd love to see it.

Yeah :) They were so cute together :) Alex is the one who named Toby as well.

>>> up my dad used to get so upset with him because my brother refused to

>> Yes, no kidding. My mom always said the same thing. I guess my dad,
>> being of the generation that essentially "trained" their hair with

It was popular stuff once..I bet it's not so available now.. just a guess.

>> Ah yes, same here kind of. One year we saw the smallest bear cub

A case where it came in handy to have the camera. Our phone has sat here
unused for so long we decided to dump it this week... The only time we've used
it recently was when we had to pick up my grandson at college and he's at a
different college now. I guess we just never used it much to start with :)

>> Yeah.. I guess that is one way to make up for unexpected weather. I'm
>> not sure, but I think in NY the powers-that-be prepare for the worst
>> snow-wise..

> They're better prepared for it up there.

Yes, they've got the equipment, it's true.

> Even tho we get snow/ice on a
> regular basis, the DOT & school board always seem to be taken by

Sure.. even here that happens... I'm hoping it happens this winter with very
mild snow.

>> It is a very flavorful herb - I think you'll like it. I cleaned out

>> new growth.. neat... :)

> I'll get out with a shovel and pot at some point before we move.

Very neat.

>> >We've got spearmint all over
>> > the place, as well as ornamental strawberries, but I'm not planning
>> to > move any of them.

>> We had those ornamental strawberries in Louisville all over our yard.
>> It's the first time I'd seen them. Of course it was also the first

> They were a bust--we tried eating them the first year we saw them and
> were VERY (!) disappointed.

Yeah, no flavor at all.. we tried them as well. I guess they're called
"ornamental" for a reason haha... I did start some strawberry plants (real
ones) in Windsor before we moved, so those should continue for the new owners.
The blueberry plants I started didn't make it though because of one rough
winter or other.

There are blackberry plants as well in far back of the property in Windsor as
well as some asparagus roots that should sprout in the early spring. I should
point them all out to the realestate agent, but I'd bet she has enough to
remember with her job (grin).

>> time I'd ever seen real-live mistletoe in a tree as welll :) :)
>> Really, if it existed in NY, I could have missed it but I don't think
>> it was there. I found out we had mistletoe in our pine trees in
>> Louisville when some guys showed up in our back yard with rifles to
>> shoot it down. I had to call our pups in because I was afraid for
>> them (two goofy black labs, about only a year old). The fellows got
>> their mistletoe.. and the dogs were fine in the end <grin>

> It's a southern thing. Don't know if it does grow up north (I've not
> really looked) but it does grow around here--our neighbors have it in
> their one tree.

That's nice... there for you to collect.. somehow (g). I guess it's easier to
buy phony mistletoe though.

Take care,
Janis
