Hi Janis,

JK> I want > to get into a bigger job. My sewing books are more
JK> garment/quilt oriented, also with a number of machine embroidery
 and alterations titles.

JK> Sounds good.. if you're going to be in the area, I can dig them up..
JK> or if not, I can mail it to you. I'm glad to know you may find some
 JK> use for them.

I don't know when we'll be up again but I suspect it'll be some time
this winter for s brief time, longer in the summer. If it's no problem,
probably the best thing is to hang on to them for now and I'll let you
know either when we'll be around to pick them up or send you a mailing
address.

JK> Yes, and the couch looked great. IIRC, I used a really nice looking
JK> bedspread or quilt type thing on that couch because it didn't look
JK> like a bedspread, but had a really pretty floral pattern. It held up

Got to go with what you like, and what looks good. My parents bought
some inexpensive furniture the first year Mom worked at the school. The
upholstry didn't last even a year so they had it re-done in a garish,
but very sturdy, orange. I think one chair might still be hanging
around.

JK> well which was good. I have a couple of bolts of different kinds of
JK> upholtery fabric here as well, that I bought for a few projects. One

I've got pieces, but not bolts, of fabrics--mostly cottons for quilting
but some others as well for clothes.

JK> I used to recover the chair seats on an antique dining room set I had.
JK> The velvet seats were in abolute tatters so replacing them gave new
JK> life to that set. I sold the set shortly afterwards. Now I have a

I can remember my grandmother needlepointing chair covers--for the
dining room set my parents have now. I think I was in late elementary
school when she did that.

JK> living room chair that the puppies "ate" shortly after we got them ...
JK> the little 'angels' (ha)... Now that they are older and mostly
JK> well-behaved, my plan is to reover that one with the bolt of
JK> goldish-green velvet I bought on sale a few years ago. That one will
JK> take some time since I have to also get stuffing for it which I don't
 JK> have at the moment.

Always a project, and the need for something to complete it. I'm waiting
on Santa to try on a shirt to figure button placement, then do the
buttonholes and sew on the buttons. Then I have to do another shirt with
the same pattern, but do have everything (have to check my thread supply
tho) for that. Plus, 1,001 other projects in the queue...............(G)

JK> > A lot of things will be moved "as is" or with minimal packing. The

JK> is", with drawers taken out > only to load/unload the truck, then
JK> replaced. Kitchen drawer contents > won't go until I get down new
JK> liners but go over in a box, go right into > the new drawer.

JK> Sounds like a good plan.. we often moved dressers that way as well...
JK> drawers could be taken out and moved as is, essentially. Clothes on
JK> hangers were often moved as is in the back of the car, etc.

It will be a big help to do the move that way. I want to put up new
shelf liners before unpacking the dishes. We also have some repurposed
book shelves in the current pantry that will go into the new one--they
sit on top of the wire shelves and keep cans, etc in place a lot better
than the wire shelves.

>> Ithaca... but both houses still have one of those sheds you can buy at
>> your local hardware place (we have Lowes). They're handy ..,

JK> > The new place has one of those that Steve has plans for already.
JK> There's > also some storage in the water heater room and a couple of
JK> the Rubbermaid type yard storage "boxes" that will be put into
 use.

JK> We emptied out the one in Windsor last weekend.. and we found a
 JK> hammock we'd forgotten we had :) :) I could only laugh.. :) We'll
JK> get that up here next summer no doubt.

OOPS! (G)

>> > larger of the 2 extra bedrooms for a sewing studio.

>> Fantastic :) I just have to have Ron get rid of some stuff in there I
>> think...

JK> > It helps to have a dedicated sewing area, especially for big
JK> projects > you don't want spread thruout the house.

JK> Yes, it really does make it so much easier to work, and even to start
JK> on projects.. That's probably a mental block for me.. if it's not easy
JK> to get to, or whatever, there's always the energy "thing" fighting
 JK> with me (grin).

I know somewhat of what you mean. I still have times when the "backlash"
from the radiation will drain me of all energy. Most of the time tho, I
don't have to stop what I'm doing and take a nap--I can slow down and
work thru it.

 JK> ===Pasta e fagioli===
 JK> 2 Tablespoons Olive oil
 JK> 3 slices bacon
 JK> 1 stalk celery
 JK> 1 carrot
 JK> 1 onion
 JK> 3 cloves garlic
 JK> 2 cans cannellini beans
JK> 1/4 cup tomato sauce or tomato paste 2 cups small macaroni
JK> 1 quart + 2 cups chicken stock or water 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
JK> 1/4 teaspoon pepper or to taste
 JK> pinch of basil

I don't think I've ever seen 2 recipies the same for this. My MIL gave
me her Aunt Grace's recipe; I've tinkered with it and made it my own.
