So mostly to him, with smaller shares to you and your sister (now going
to your b-i-l)...

ML> We have discussed this issue, agreeing in principle to
ML> establish a trust for my brother using my b-i-l's share.
ML> Unfortunately, there are tax consequences. Fortunately, my
ML> b-i-l and I together could thwart any stupid thing my brother
ML> would be entitled to do with the assets if this anomalous
ML> situation were not in place.

Probably just as well, so long as you and your b-i-l stay in agreement
on it.. :) Legal stuff, and tax stuff, gets so convoluted...

NB>> Offices seem to be more and more virtual, true.... but if an

 NB>> doesn't work so well.
ML> Construction is mostly modularized, which minimizes the
ML> human intervention; it looks to me as though maintenance
ML> is the last frontier for labor.

You are probably correct... Most other things can be dealt with without
proximity... :) Maintenance, and the original construction perhaps.

ML>> The world would probably be a better place with widespread

 NB>> True.
ML> It's time to bring up the old sci-fi story The Marching
ML> Morons again. One problem of course is that higher
ML> intellectual achievement is still equated to a great
ML> degree with higher social status, leading to the Ph.Ds
ML> in stenography or similar that the story describes.

[shudders] Sigh...

 ML>>> Chilacayota refreshing drink

ML> The instructions are defective, speaking of, on this
ML> subject. What one does with the squash pulp is never
 ML> really addressed.

Ah... ok. ;)

ML> The pumpkin soup that Linda made for
ML> Thanksgiving out of a Publix brochure was perhaps like
ML> what you were envisioning - thickish and dead sweet,
ML> totally inappropriate for a soup course and to me totally
ML> inappropriate for the table at all.

Sounds rather nastyish... Did it have apple in it...? I remember having
a squash soup as a soup course at a reunion dinner (30th? 35th? college
reunion) a few years ago... it was catered by RIT's Culinary School
(whatever the proper name for it is/was), and they were doing fancy
schmancy things... ;) I got a bit of an unexpected apple reaction from
something that night, and found out later that some recipes for squash
soup call for apple in them... (Including one from the Wegmans Menu
magazine, later)... I did see YK Jim's recipe that looked pretty good,
and safe... :)

ML>> risky trips). I think that the hardiest voyagers would not
ML>> want to spend substantial time away from available emergency

NB>> Maybe depends on how much they are into the experimental aspects of
NB>> the whole situation... and how driven to be a part of it... Kinda
NB>> like the early explorers, who took chances, some of which of course
NB>> turned out to be totally disastrous... :)
ML> I'm okay with that, just so their heirs don't sue everyone
 ML> in sight.

Have to make sure they sign releases ahead of time... ;)

ML>>> One can of course substitute catnip for the oregano.
NB>>> Would the Italians notice...? ;)
ML>> Perhaps, perhaps not. They're reasonably closely
ML>> related in taste and genetics.
NB>> A related question would be whether a cat would roll as excitedly
NB>> in oregano as in catnip...? ;)
ML> Answer is no. The active ingredient in catnip is
ML> absent in other members of the family.

That's what I thought I remembered... :) I have seen cats enthusiastic
for some of the mint family, though... just not as much as with catnip.
