============================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> I was mostly kidding about sending rolls of tape for
NB> Christmas... NB>> but we've been known to do that sort of practical
 NB> gifting.. ;)

RH> Robert would enjoy it but probably not Sarah and Audrey. Deborah's
RH> boys are too young to appreciate it, probably would in another couple
 RH> of years or so.

NB> Don't underestimate the power of kids to enjoy odd things... (G)

Sarah is 6, and according to her dad, quite the drama queen (princess?).
I don't think that goes well with rolls of tape. Audrey and Logan are
both 3, not a good age for tape. Jaxon is 15 months, definately not a
good age for tape. Deborah's other 2 have aged out of it but all of them
would enjoy something odd, just not sure what.

NB> NB>> You certainly have enough to do on the unpacking etc to not
NB> really NB>> have time to make your normal specialties... :) A gift
NB> card for the NB>> family does have a good sound to it, this year...
 NB> ;)

RH> Just have to get on the stick and order them. We're beginning to get
RH> some organisation to the chaos of moving in here but will probably
RH> spend Christmas day unpacking instead of feasting.

NB> Your Christmas gift to the house... (G)

For sure! Steve is putting up room darkening blinds as I write. A friend
(one of those who helped with the move 2 weeks ago) was over today; she
was impressed with progress made. Another load (including a lot of
kitchen stuff and a sewing machine) came home today from the storage
unit.

NB> RH>> Basically, yes. Fridge and dishwasher are relatively new but
NB> they RH>> will be replaced in time with our choices of each.
NB> NB>> Will you wait for them to die (hopefully reasonably gracefully),
NB> NB>> or replace sooner than that...?

RH> At this point, I'd say we'll wait and let them age some. We just
RH> ordered an over the stove microwave, partly to free up some room in
RH> the kitchen. Other than that, I'm going to look for some nice free
RH> standing cabinets I can use for linens and other storage, do curtains,
RH> etc and continue doing things to make this our home.

NB> It all adds up to some major expenditures, doesn't it.. ;)

A smoking credit card! (G) That's why I'm going to hold off for some
time on the curtains, etc.

NB> RH>> Yes, and I got some more unpacking done today. Still haven't
NB> found RH>> the box of bread crumbs, rice, other grains.
 NB> NB>> Gotta be there somewhere... (G)
RH> And, it's not as perishable as some things so even if it takes another
RH> month or so to find, it won't be a disaster when we do find it.

NB> Just have to go out and buy some of the items in smaller quantities as
NB> needed in the meantime, I guess... ;)

Maybe some, but the bread crumbs are from my home made bread. But, I've
got the blender and more crusts in the freezer so I can make more--when
I get the time.

NB> teaching RH>> as well as sewing and learning from others.
NB> NB>> And also gives you some of your usual structure to balance the
 NB> NB>> craziness of the move... :)

RH> Very much so! We had a semi organised pot luck for our Christmas
RH> "party" the other day--lots of good food! (G) Yesterday I went with our
RH> co-ordinator to pick up some batting, got home and realised my keys
RH> weren't in my purse and Steve was out at Home Depot. So, I went with
RH> her to the Wednesday group, got invited to join, saw some pretty quilts
RH> and showed off pictures of some of mine. (G) I doubt I'll join that one
RH> as I've enough to keep me busy during the week otherwise.

NB> How many QoV groups are there...? Do they ever get together as one

Wake Forest has 2 groups but it's a nation wide organisation.

NB> big group for anything...? Or is this just another quilting group...

There are national conventions/conferences but I've not gone to any.

NB> Not surprising that you'd fit right in, but also no surprise that you
NB> might find your life too busy to fit another group in... :)

I do need a bit of down time every so often. (G)

NB> RH>> Yes, eventually. I found the rack for, and most of my cutting
NB> boards RH>> so they're up in at least a temporary location.
NB> NB>> Until you figure out the best permanent location.. :)

RH> I'm thinking of one but it's cluttered up with tools right now. (G)

 NB> Eventually... :)

Steve is thinking elsewhere but I need to see how thing settle otherwise
in the kitchen. He brought over more today, including the KA, the George
Foreman and a number of other small appliances.

NB> took RH>> time out today for final Christmas choir rehersal. Went up
NB> to the (old) RH>> house afterward, also visited with a couple of
 NB> former neighbors.
NB> NB>> Is everything moved now...?

RH> All is out of the house, we've turned the keys over and they have a
RH> "for rent" sign out front.

NB> Another hurdle jumped. ;) And one less thing left on the list to be
 NB> done... :)

Giving us more time to work on this place.

NB> NB>> One of the nice things about moving locally is that you don't
NB> have NB>> to lose contact with your former neighbors... :)

RH> That is a good thing. I have a cook book I need to get to the one
RH> neighbor but it got packed before I was able to get it over to her.

NB> The joys of packing... :) At least it won't be too much hassle (and
NB> a good excuse for another visit besides) to get it to her once it
 NB> resurfaces... ;)

Once we get schedules co-ordinated--she works down in Raleigh.

Catch you later,
Ruth
