The good thing about the early Suzuki method was that it did train the
ear, and gave good technical skills.. but it had the same problems that
the Dick,Jane&Sally reading programs had... one couldn't easily turn it
into real reading or real music...  By the time my friend Karen's kids
were learning music with the Suzuki method, it had evolved sufficiently
to add in reading music at a fairly early level... I don't remember the
exacts (if I ever really knew them), but by the time she was roping me
in to accompany them at NYSSMA competitions, they were reading some
fairly difficult music, not just learning it by rote...  :)

I hear you.  I sometimes question my choices when realizing how easily
medical and pharma learning comes now... but not enough to really regret
anything... And I certainly don't have the physical stamina to do any
such full time now...nor even, probably, to do the classwork/practicums.

Despite what the doctors say about how wonderful the statins are, most
of the people I know who've taken them have had problems with them, and
temporary or permanent damage from them.

Not even necessarily some condition or other... Some of ours have eaten
too heartily, then, being thirsty from the food, drank equally heartily,
then had the food expand in their gut and propel itself out again...  of
course this is mostly with kibble, which expands a lot in water... ;)

Or to not necessarily use the particular test that would have
highlighted it for them... especially with women and heart issues, I've
heard...

Even though I don't detest potatoes like you do, I'd not have liked it
much either... clam chowder should be clams.  With just enough dairy and
potatoes to make it soup...  :)
