===========================
Hi Michael,

ML> Quite so. My elbow refuses to heal despite its being two
ML> or three weeks now. Of course I made the mistake of letting
RH> About time you saw somebody who might be able to do something about
 RH> that.

ML> I'm much less of an interventionist than you, it looks like,
ML> and though I have comprehensive care (with a 25- deductible
ML> per visit, 250- if admitted) the doc won't see me for
ML> something of this smallness unless it really festers. Until

Ok, I was thinking that going on 3 weeks for something like this is
quite a long time without any real healing. But, I was reading some of
your earlier posts, and if this is typical for you, then I won't worry
so much.

ML> this year, I had no deductible or co-pay for either inpatient
ML> or outpatient, and I generally didn't go anyway, so cost is
 ML> not the issue.

We have deductables and cost share, right now on Tricare Standard but
will go on Tricare for Life when we turn 65. Steve has no payments with
the VA, but I can't use them so see civilian doctors for everything.

RH> What kind of bandaging job did she do?

ML> It was one of those long-term adhesive bandages that are
ML> meant to isolate large wounds until they stabilize - she has

Probably a gauze pad and wrap (allowing it to breathe some) would have
been a better idea in this case.

ML> them in her purse as being an old and slightly clumsy person
ML> she snags her skin on things, and it tears easily.

I have some band aids in my wallet but not anything bigger. But, I know
when I was on the prednisome for almost a year, my skin was much more
fragile so I can understand why she keeps bigger bandages handy. Smart
idea, actually.

RH> Did you have any sort of antibiotic ointment/cream to put on it?

ML> That's not the sort of thing I'd have easy access to or to
ML> seek out. I figure Neosporin has caused more arms to fall off
ML> than it has saved. Anyhow, in my case the diabetes issue plus
ML> my tendency to bleed anyway are the most influential factors
ML> rather than any pathogenic bacteria .

RH> I've found that helps the area to heal a bit faster.

ML> Your immune system may need more of a boost than mine, then
ML> (or than I am willing to give mine).

The differences in all of us.

ML> oozing for the longest time. We'll see how my solos go at
 ML> dress rehearsal tonight.
RH> And how did they go? Have you had the actual performance yet and if

ML> Last Sunday. I'm not sure how it went - will have to hear
ML> the tapes. I believe that the two places where I screwed up
ML> were covered by the vocal soloist (it's filigree stuff
ML> behind the song line), so that few other than I would
ML> notice, or so I hope.

And I probably wouldn't have even noticed any goof ups unless they were
real screeches. (G)

RH> so, how did it go?

ML> Piece of pie, er, cake, though my ego was bruised a bit by
ML> the ordinary citizens not noticing that I was actually
ML> playing alone much of the time with the rest of the sea of
ML> strings sitting there idle. The group had a little mostly
ML> a cappella recital the next week, and I was in the audience,
ML> and someone asked me if I had attended the Sunday concert,
ML> and I said, yes, I was in the orchestra; and then I was
ML> asked what instrument I played. Ah, well, sic transit

But, it was something to keep your hand in the music field. For all the
concerts available in the Triangle area (R-D-CH), we've only attended 2,
plus one show other than events at the seminary.

ML> gloria. Actually, this is musically speaking the ideal
ML> result, my contribution, though it was the second most
ML> prominent among the performers, was immediately forgotten -
ML> so it didn't call attention to itself (musicianship rather
ML> than flash is what I am paid to provide) and it was not
ML> bad enough to call attention in that way either.

So you did your job and because it had no flash, you weren't remembered.

ML> Yesterday Bob and Deb were having Chobani for lunch, and
ML> when I walked into the dining area my first impression
 ML> was "what died?"
RH> I've not noticed any smells like that.

ML> All yogurt smells like putrefied milk, because that is what it
ML> is; with the Chobani the odor was more pronounced than usual,
ML> probably owing to its being more concentrated than ordinary.
ML> It carried right through from the kitchen to the dining room
ML> (separated only by an island).

It usually doesn't bother me. Probably if it were way past its prime,
I'd notice it but I've not encountered any really old stuff.

Catch you later,
