CP437 is the default in Multi-Mail ... which is my go-to OLR.

As I told MLoo -- I have put a lot of time and effort into editing the 20K+
recipes I have in my Meal Master. I will probably continue to use the little
degree symbol.

What I do though is change out all the high-ascii fractions, quote marks,
dashes, apostrophes, etc. for standard ascii. Notepad++ has a very nice seek
and swap/destroy feature. Also Professional File Editor.

Thanks for the input, though. I think things may iron themselves out when I get
back to my tin can and the desktop with XP. For now check out the temps in the
recipe attached for my preferred substitution for the "+." symbol.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.02

      Title: Cape Cod Cranberry Scones
 Categories: Breads, Fruits, Citrus, Dairy
      Yield: 16 scones

  2 1/2 c  Flour
  2 1/2 ts Baking powder
    1/2 ts Baking soda
    3/4 c  Butter
      1 c  Cranberries; coarse chopped
      2 ts Orange peel; grated
    2/3 c  Sugar
    1/2 c  Buttermilk or sour milk

  Preheat oven to 400oF/205oC.

  In mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder and baking
  soda; cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives.
  Stir in cranberries, orange peel and sugar; stir in
  buttermilk just until ingredients are moistened. working
  on floured surface, shape dough into two 8" circles, 1/2"
  thick. Cut each circle into eight wedges and place on
  ungreased cookie sheet.

  Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until lightly browned.
