============================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> Doesn't sound exactly normal to me... as I said, it might not be
NB> NB>> cataracts causing the symptoms, but it might bear looking deeper
NB> NB>> into... maybe the question should just be phrased differently...
 NB> ;)

RH> OK, I'll probably be making an appointment sometime next month anyway.

NB> Worth checking into, anyway.. :)

YEs, I'm going to see a new eye doctor anyway so may as well start in
with hard questions.

 NB> RH>> Don't know, I've always been quite color discriminatory. It's
NB> not NB>> It would probably make a bigger difference with specific
 NB> off-whites...

RH> They can be hard. I thought I had one match but it wasn't. Went to
RH> Jo-Ann's, saw 2, grabbed my swatch and got the one that was the match.
RH> At the cutting table, found it wasn't quite the amount I wanted so
RH> clerk grabbed the other. I showed her that it wasn't the same white as
RH> the one I had. Got the first one, hopefully will have enough to do the
 RH> project. If not, punt.

NB> Hope you did get enough. :)

I'll see, once I start cutting the next quilt. Still have 2 blocks to
make on this one, then get the 36 blocks joined before working on the
next one.

NB> again... it NB>> was quite spectacular... I was closing one eye and
NB> then the other, NB>> to see the difference... ;) Now that both eyes
 NB> are done, that
 NB> NB>> game is gone... ;)

RH> And nothing was spilled on the stove making it seem yellow. (G)
RH> Some whites do yellow with age and exposure to the sun.

NB> Exactly... and it hadn't yellowed from age or sun-exposure, after
NB> all... ;) I suppose that in some ways it didn't really change my
NB> relative color perception... swatches to bolt would probably have been
NB> accurate before the surgery... but I might have had a surprise at what
NB> the colors/whites really were in the finished product afterwards... ;)

Sounds logical. Yuu might have seen or perceived a color change in some
of your herbs and spices, but by checking with the done, vs the un done
eye, you could have verified there was no actual change.

RH> I bought a white electric can opener in AZ; I can tell where certain
RH> parts are more hidden as they are still white. Most of it is a
RH> slightly yellowed white, not obvious unless you see the parts that
RH> are still a purer white.

NB> That was the sort of thing I'd thought was happening... :) Which
NB> turned out not to be the case... :)

Which is good.

NB> love NB>> the look and feel of the fabrics... and are thereby also
 NB> quite
NB> NB>> interested in what can be done from them... :)

RH> And the way different people's minds work with the same piece of
 RH> fabric. (G)

NB> Yes, that, too... ;) And with how different minds might end up
 NB> realizing a certain pattern...

That's probably how the Disappearing 9 Patch and Disappearing 4 Patch
blocks came about. Google them if you don't know what I'm talking about.

NB> NB>> I always get a small cabbage... or half a medium one... just
NB> enough NB>> to get the taste without being overwhelmed by it...

RH> I got the best looking of the smallest cabbage I could, tho it was
RH> probably a medium size. No cut in half ones available to grab.

NB> At Wegmans, there's usually a produce clerk to grab... they've always
NB> been very willing to cut one down for me. This year, it turned out
NB> that someone before us had asked for the same thing, and was waiting
NB> for the clerk to return with the halves... The clerk came back with
NB> two halves, already weighed and labled... I took the smaller of the
NB> two, and both of us were happy... :)

Good deal for both of you. My MIL has a huge cabbage and a piece of
corned beef she wants me to cook. I'll probably only do half, at most,
of the cabbage and we'll still have left overs.

NB> NB>> we tend to prefer cabbage as sauerkraut rather than boiled, but
 NB> once NB>> in a while is fine... ;)

RH> We like it as cole slaw most of the time.

NB> We like it that way once in a while, too... :)

That's one way to go thru a good bit of mayo, tho I've tried to cut down
on the amount I use for the slaw.

NB> NB>> Depending on how much or little is left over, some years the
NB> leftover NB>> cabbage and beef get chopped down and the last meal is
 NB> soup...

RH> Hash would be good too.

NB> If there hadn't been so many veggies overall left over this year, the
NB> piece of corned beef would probably have been about the right amount
NB> for a decent supper meal of hash... although I might have had to have
 NB> cooked more potatoes... :)

Can't win for losing--or 2nd guessing.
