There are other groups of friends where I am if not the main
attraction at least one of them, and I don't expect a board
or political meeting when invited out with them, but once in
a while a powwow will break out in the course of what was
supposed to be a purely social occasion.

It made life a lot easier, though much closer to coma.

Funny thing - it was reported to me that during training
of volunteers to identify the noxious weed, the docent
told everyone to taste a sample, and at the first work
session the workers started eating what they pulled out.

Armenian Pizza (Lahmajoon)
Categories: Lamb, Appetizer, lahmejun, lamejun, semihomemade
Yield: 10 to 12 servings

2 garlic cloves
1 md onion, roughly chopped
1 sm green pepper, seeded and roughly chopped
1 lb ground lamb (or ground beef)
6 oz tomato paste
14 1/2 oz can diced tomatoes
1/4 c chopped parsley leaves
1/2 ts ground cumin
1/2 ts cayenne pepper
salt and pepper
flour tortillas
lemon wedges, to serve

Heat the oven to 400F.

Mince the garlic in a food processor. Add the onion
and pulse to chop, then add the green pepper and
pulse to chop. Add the lamb, tomato paste, tomatoes,
parsley, cumin, cayenne, and salt and pepper; process
until everything is very well chopped. The consistency
should be wet and pasty, like hummus. Spread a thin
layer of the meat mixture onto flour tortillas all
the way to the edge. Bake directly on the oven rack
for 8 to 10 min, or until the edges are browned and
the meat is cooked through. If the tortilla begins
to inflate in the oven, pop it with a fork from the
top. To serve, squeeze some lemon over the top, fold
the pizza into quarters, and eat out of hand.

M's note: most versions don't have cumin. Of course,
most versions don't use tortillas, either.
