They came fried in julienne strips and were found among the
potato chips, wasabi peas, and suchlike. And came from a
sausage company. I figured they were meant to be human food.

Which reminds me that Dave used to take a big smoked pig
ear and hold it up to his head in front of Zim and shout
What? WHAT? and then give the thing to the dog. The effect
of this was that whenever Dave and I were having a
conversation and the word "what" was used, Zim would
bound up to us and expect to get a treat.

My defective learning of Asian languages ... I have been
to Japan about 3 times and through the airport 19 more
and never knew that. Of course, all I had to know was
biru, wain, moruto uisuki, and unaitidu earain.

Which reminds me that our waitress last night was named
Shalise (she was a redheaded white gal), which I remembered
easily because that's what my grandmother called my cousin
Charisse. I get to tell this story because it's not racist
for me to do so. Not sure about you.

Atomic canuck chili

2 lb lean ground beef
1/2 lg onion, diced
1 Tb crushed red pepper
3 Tb garlic powder
1 Tb seasoned pepper
2 cn (4 oz ea) mushroom pieces, drained
28 oz cn baked beans
2 cn (15.25 oz ea) kidney beans with liquid
12 oz tomato paste
1/4 c white sugar
3 carrots, sliced
3 stalks celery, sliced
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
2 jalapeno chile peppers, diced
1/4 c Canadian beer
2 Tb crushed red pepper
hot sauce
1/4 c barbeque sauce

In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef
together with onion, crushed red pepper, garlic powder,
and seasoned pepper. Drain off the fat, and place the
mixture into a slow cooker.

Stir mushrooms, baked beans, kidney beans with liquid,
tomato paste, sugar, carrots, celery, peppers, beer,
and barbeque sauce into the slow cooker. Season with
hot sauce and more crushed red pepper.

Cover, and cook on Low for 4 to 5 hr.
