============
Hi Nancy,

NB> that you NB>> normally visit in person... but if you don't usually
NB> use credit there, NB>> the car rental place does seem a likely
 NB> suspect...

RH> It was a card we don't use that often, which helped narrow down where
 RH> it was used.

NB> That would make it easier... :)

A lot easier in the long run. And, the company was on the ball,
notifying us right away about it. Sometimes they've called us when
we've been travelling and run up more than normal for us type charges in
a place like LV. We've used it for Christmas shopping--doing it there is
easier than doing it here and having to carry everything when we're
going out for Christmas anyway.

NB> NB>> I think one can usually get reasonable versions of that in the
 NB> grocery NB>> store, actually... ;)

RH> Most likely, if not a grocery store, then I'm pretty sure I've seen it
RH> at Cost Plus World Market. Steve likes to get coffee there; every so
RH> often we'll pick up some other things as well. They used to have a
RH> small selection of Hawaiian goodies but seem to have phased it out.

NB> That sounds a likely place, then... Maybe they couldn't get the
NB> Hawaiian goodies any more under their terms or to meet their
 NB> requirements...

I've no idea but it means we have to contact people out in HI (or check
Amazon) for some things we like to have.

NB> NB>> Taconic comes off the end of the Bronx Expressway... It does
NB> mean NB>> driving expressways thru NYC, I guess... But that's where I
 NB> was

RH> Definately will be avoided by us. Last time we drove south (going to
RH> NJ from the Catskills) we had an interesting view of part of the city
RH> after we got into NJ. Brief, but enough to know we don't want to drive
 RH> in it.

NB> It's not actually all that bad... the Beltways of Baltimore and DC are
NB> definitely worse, as is anywhere in Boston... ;) Steve might have
NB> some problems with the limited vision, though, I'll grant you...

We try to avoid the DC/Baltimore area if we're not to Shipps or on up to
NJ. We'll take the bypass around the western part and on up north. In
May, we'd been on the bypass about half an hour when my brother called,
asking if we could go to NJ to pick up some paperwork from my aunt. We
couldn't, without a major detour, so continued on--turned out, the
paperwork wasn't that vital after all.

NB> NB>> Always busy... ;) Has he done anything yet with the
 NB> coconut...?

RH> Still waiting. Maybe this week will be less hectic.

 NB> We shall see... ;)

He drilled out the eyes Monday night and when he drained the water, I
said it didn't look too good. Then he cracked it open and found it
wasn't good, and had probably started going bad before we bought it.
We'd had it long enough that it wasn't worth returning so just tossed it
out.

NB> have to RH>> get a very good price on a good amount to make the sauce
NB> worth while. NB>> Maybe there'll be a crush of them at the very end
 NB> of the season... ;)

RH> Maybe; I missed the market this week. Steve had a conference and I was
RH> cooking for our church picnic. It was also raining like anything and I
RH> didn't want to schlep bags & an umbrella in it so decided to stay in.

NB> Can't blame you there at all... :)

Much better for my disposition. (G)

RH> The gluten free, diary free apple crisp and broccoli salad vanished
RH> today, brought home clean dishes.

NB> As one might have expected... ;) More people than usual to enjoy
 NB> them... ;)

Yes, and word has gotten out about the broccoli salad I think. (G)

NB> week. NB>> How'd you do...? (hard to believe that I'm that far
NB> behind already... NB>> but I guess it HAS been a busy week! [g])

RH> Almost done--just have to do the vents, hem and button holes, then sew
RH> on my label & the buttons. I'll finish it tomorrow.

 NB> Sounds good... :)

Down to just sewing on the buttons, had other things take up time I
could have used for that. Maybe tonight after "Jeopardy" I'll get them
sewn on.

NB> NB>> I have some slight reaction to stuff all year round...
NB> fortunately NB>> not any strong reactions, usually...

RH> I have some problems year round but spring is the worst.

 NB> Sigh... ;)

Agreed.

NB> pick them and RH>> let them ripen inside, same as my Dad used to
NB> (actually, us kids would RH>> have to do the picking).
NB> NB>> So for now, it's just wait and see... :)

RH> Yes, and pick as they ripen. We've got 3 nice ones on the solo plant
RH> that should start turning color any day. Might make a nice 'mater
 RH> sandwich from them. (G)

 NB> Yum... :)

That, or a nice thick BLT, but not an MLT.

Catch you later,
Ruth
