====================================================================
Hi Nancy,

NB> I kneaded in RH>> about a cup more flour than the recipe called for.
NB> NB>> Probably due to humidity, with all that rain you've been
 NB> having... :)

RH> Could be, we had more today. Third rainy Saturday in a row!

NB> Sigh... At least you aren't in drought conditions... nor totally
 NB> flooded out... ;)

No, and we had a nice sunny day for the market yesterday. We picked up a
few odds and ends--peach empanadas, muscadine grapes, spelt cinnamon
rolls, a patty pans squash. Given a pistachio shortbread cookie and a
couple of cinnamon rolls.

NB> and had done the rye bread that way years ago. NB>> So basically, you
NB> did the changes you'd probably already have done to NB>> the original
NB> recipe over the years... Does it taste like what you've NB>> been
 NB> looking for, too...?

RH> I think the taste is basically the same, from what I remember of the
RH> old recipe. Others I tried tasted like they had too much cocoa--this
RH> had none, and used molasses for sweetening vs honey or brown sugar. The
RH> use of molasses is one thing that I'd remembered from the old recipe
RH> but had trouble finding until UDD pulled it out.

NB> Makes sense that it would have been a Pillsbury recipe, too... :)

I've got it back now, after I don't know how many years since I
misplaced it so now I can enjoy it again.

NB> NB>> We're getting the showers today... I'm sure the sunny days have
NB> been NB>> very enjoyable for you after so much rain...

RH> I'm hoping to see more of them. (G)

NB> I'm sure you are... :) Today is sunny, and supposed to be warming up
NB> to almost 80... I've got the bedroom window open to try to warm things
NB> up a bit indoors... it's been down to almost 60 indoors... The rest of
NB> the week isn't likely to be at all as nice, according to the
 NB> forecast...

We had a couple of rainy/overcast days in NY, turned sunny but chilly
the day we left.

NB> NB>> Probably not much more traveling if at all any more this year
 NB> for me,

RH> We have one very short (time wise) but long (distance wise) coming up,
RH> not sure of our end of the year plans--depends on timing and finances.

NB> The one you're about to do.... and then, maybe FL for the holidays
 NB> with Steve's parents...?

Debating heading west instead of south.

 NB> Italian sausage links,
NB> NB>> half a small tube of pate of foie gras, a loaf of cinnamon
NB> bread, NB>> maybe a third of a pound of bacon...

RH> Quite a haul, there. How are you going to cook the pork tenderloin?

NB> Probably just bake it... some of it might end up as leftovers... serve
NB> it with some sort of veggies, maybe some baby red potatoes too...

Sounds good. Maybe glaze it with something to add flavor?

NB> NB>> He had tossed the fresh asparagus and peppers before I realized
NB> NB>> he had them, or I'd've gladly taken the asparagus home, too...
 NB> :)

RH> Sigh! You still did quite well.

 NB> Almost too well... (G)

Let it go to waist, not waste.

NB> NB>> He had planned to eat down all the stuff in his fridge before
NB> NB>> going, but didn't quite manage to, and there wasn't time for him
NB> to NB>> cook it his "proper" way, on a woodfire, while I was up for
 NB> the

RH> I know, same story here. We usually don't get the fridge cleaned out
RH> as well as I'd like it to be, before going on a trip. The last one did
RH> quite well; the upcoming one, since we'll only be gone a few days, is
RH> much less of a concern.

NB> And this time, since both fridges up there were being turned off for
NB> the winter, it was use up, take with, or toss... His timetable got
NB> disrupted, too, this time, since he made a day trip down to Rochester
NB> environs to do some banking, and didn't quite make it all the way

Always good intentions, with sometimes an interruption to them.

NB> back, but had to stay in Watertown while his jeep was getting the
 NB> cooling
NB> system replaced... it died dramatically on the way... Good news, now
NB> he also knows a good mechanic in Watertown... (G)

That is good to know for just in case, or routine maintainence if you're
at the camp for a prolonged time.

 NB> NB>> weekend... ;) So far we've had the sausage, and I've had a
NB> bit NB>> of the bread and the eggs... we hardboiled half of them up
NB> at the NB>> Pond, for snacking on as needed, and I ended up bringing
NB> 4 of those NB>> home along with the half dozen raw ones... :) I
NB> think we're well NB>> stocked for the moment... ;)

RH> OTOH, I went shopping for both Life Group cooking and stuff for us
RH> yesterday. We were quite well stocked on some things, others, like
RH> yogurt, we were out of. Now there are 11 cups in the fridge, had been
RH> a dozen but I had one as part of breakfast. Bread in the fridge
RH> included whole wheat, rye (both home made), English muffins, cinnamon
RH> rolls (from the farmer's market, part of breakfast tomorrow), and whole
RH> wheat sandwich thins. Eggs--both steamed (not hard boiled) and raw....

NB> You'll come home to a decently stocked fridge... no need to have to
NB> shop immediately when you get home... ;)

No, we did some shopping yesterday but glad we didn't need to rush out
the same day we got home.
