I like bell peppers anywhere from raw (crudites) to cooked to mush (but, not
totally liquid). I rather enjoy the #2 diesel undertone that MLoo seems to
hald against them. I have never found *any* discernable heat in a bell pepper
- except some Mexi-bells that I crossed successfully using standard bell
peppers and jalapenos. Those had a minor wakeup. About (I estimate) 1,000
scovilles.

But, of course. I think I'll add bacon on top this time, too.

RH> Yes, you do fall into the crack on that one. But, by the same token,
RH> you missed going to either of those two exciting places. (G)

The only time I left the US whilst in the Navy was when I wangled my way as an
"observer" onto a P2V doing an around-the-world "training" flight. We hit
Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Australia, Indonesia, India, Iran, Greece,
France, Great Britain, Iceland, Greenland, Canuckistan (Goose Bay, Labrador)
and back to NAS Memphis. Geez, the inside of one military airfield looks much
like the inside of any other.

DD> Beale Street in Memphis (before the Tourist Commission got hold of it)
DD> was exciting enough for me. Now it's all cleaned up and "sanitised" to
DD> attract the tourist dollars. I saw many blues legends there in clubs
 DD> for a 50c cover charge or a two-drink minimum. Including B. B. (Riley)
DD> King and Rufus Thomas, Memphis Minnie, the Memphis Jug Band, etc.,
 DD> etc.

RH> I was still in grade school at the time, had never heard of those folks
 RH> then.

DD> In other parts of Memphis I saw Johnny Cash - before he left Sun
DD> Records, Carl Perkins (who did the ORIGINAL "Blue Suede Shoes") and
DD> went to a party at Graceland, invited by Elvis himselvis.

RH> I think I first really became aware of Johnny Cash and Elvis in my
RH> early teems--but wasn't allowed to buy any of their music. Dad and Mom
RH> did watch the Johnny Cash show on tv, but there wasn't much of a choice
RH> on other shows so they picked the best of the worst, in their opinions.

Wonder what they had against Johnny Cash? Elvis I sort of understand - there
was a blue-nose bunch who were condemning his "sexually suggestive" gyrations
when performing. But, I wrote those people off as transferring their own
suppressed libidos to others. Or just people who believed than since their
lives weren't living up to their expectations and were not fun that no one
else should have any enjoyment of life either.

DD> could join The Sons of The Legion - off my dad's WWII service and
DD> Phil's Vietnam adventures (plus he has been nearly everything in the
 DD> 40 & 8 as well as Post Commander of Post 32) but, I have a problem
DD> with joining auxiliaries in my head.

RH> Depends, some of them are real go getters in their own right. Our
RH> Auxillary sponsors a 5K fun run, a holiday craft fair and other events.

DD> What they do is what they do. No concern of mine. I keep busy with
DD> chilli suppers and sometimes serving meals at the 8th Street Rescue
DD> Mission (long since moved from 8th St.) or the Helping Hands Shelter.

 ---------->B CUT 8<-------------

RH> Yes, you do keep quite busy. We'll drop a level in busy-ness after
RH> December 13. Today we were at the city Veteran's day ceremony, followed
RH> by a mid day meal at TX Roadhouse. Steve was at an early morning flag
RH> raising & breakfast at one of the local nursing homes. Had church
RH> nursery duty tonight, plus choir practice so I'm doing Fido a bit later
 RH> than usual.

I went to the local Golden Corral for breakfast to meet my friend, Les. But,
despite his assurances that GC was open on 11/11 for breakfast ....... we
wound up at Denny's (the local ones have become nice again) for breakfast.
Then I was at the local Hy-Vee (our Wegmans) for some shopping and went to
their Marketplace Grill for lunch. My server asked if I was a vet, thanked me
for my service and Hy-Vee comped my lunch --- something I had not expected as
there was no notification in the media. But, quite a nice gesture.
