It would seem that the guard rail's greatest effectiveness
would be in encouraging a vehicle to get back on the road,
taking the wrong-direction energy and converting it into
wrinkles and dents. So relatively glancing blows would be
the anticipated assault level. I'd be more afraid of the
rock walls on one side, come to think of it.

That's an interesting way to swear off whiskey. Not the
drinking of, of course.

> I question that it was a wheel. Probably a tyre. That's fairly common (more

I've seen the evidence of past interactions; don't recall
the real thing, though there have been interesting encounters
of stuff falling off vehicles with me in the death seat. There
are times when being vision impaired are good for you.

> But, I have seen more than one lose a pair of wheels, still bolted
> together when an axle or spindle broke and the duals became independent

So that pair would be more likely to go in a straight
line than a single wheel, or no? Still a big chunk of
equipment to try to dodge.

So the weak points are these metal pieces. There should be
standards, should there not? A potentially salubrious use
for government regulation, I'd think. Earlier I was thinking
of nuts working loose and wondering if there was a practical
way of preventing that.

I was slowing for an interstate highway ramp and
> watched it zip past, hit a guard rail, bounce high in the air and spin like a

Sounds similar to what others have described. Would have
had made me making muffins, I guarantee.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v7.07

      Title: Pumpkin Muffins
 Categories: Breads
   Servings: 24

6 tb Unsalted butter (1 stick),
           - softened at room temp.
      1 c Granulated Sugar
  1 1/2 c Canned pumpkin
      2 Eggs
      2 c All-purpose flour
      2 ts Baking poseder
  1 1/2 ts Cinnamon
    1/2 ts Nutmeg
    1/4 ts Salt
      1 c Milk
1/2 c Chopped pecans or walnuts
    1/2 c Raisins
      1 tb Cinnamon free sugar
           - (for sprinkling)

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Greas a muccin pan or use a non-stick pan.
With an electric mixer or wooden spoon, vream the butter and sugar
together
until they turn smooth and fluffy. Add the pumpkin and mix until well
blended, then add the eggs, 1 at a time, stirring until completelymixed
  after each addition.

  2. Stif together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Stir into the pumpkin mixture, alternating with the milk. Stir just
enough
to combine the ingredients: DO NOT OVERMIX. Fold in the nutts and
raisins.

  3. Pour the batter into the prepared muffin pan, fillin the cups 2/3
full.
Sprinkle on a little cinnamon sugar. Bake in the oven until a skewer
inserted into the center comes out clean (about 25 min.) Remoe form the
pan and cool on a rack. Serve for breakfast or tea (The muffins may be
stored up to 2 days in an airtight container or frozen up to 1 month.)
