My first rice cooker had that - Put a cup or so of rice in it - water to cover
and put the lid on the whole thing - and let it steam. When sufficient time has
passed, unplug/turn off and lift the basket out. Fluff the rice and it's all
good. That one went to a new home when I got the bigger one I currently use
most of the time. It claims that one can do pasta in it - and I don't see why
not ..... although I haven't tested that assertion - yet.

With my arthritis and increasingly decrepit knees I often have trouble getting
back up off the floor. So, I have invested in one of those "mechanic's seat"
roll-around deals (http://tinyurl.com/ROLL-AROUND) that makes it much easier to
get back up. The one in the link is no longer available at my place - but
Amazon has very similar ones from about $14. They are hand for many thing that
require working low.

I had a narrow, tall double sided shelving unit at the tin-can that I had my
friend Les make for me out of scrap pallets. It fit in a "dead storage closet"
that was not useful at all unless one wanted to set it and forget it .....
until we removed to shelves and put this roller equipped unit in there. I could
pull it out all the way and swivel to get to the backside. No place to put it
in the new house - so it went to a co-worker who lives in a tin can similar to
the one I abandoned. He really likes it.

I couldn't see any way to get my 16" X 24" sheet pans in there with the shelf
in place. So, out it came.

RH> OK, hardest part will be the dried celery leaves as we don't go thru
 RH> that much celery.

My current supply of celery leaf came from the Odd Lots store. I've also bought
it from the spice aisle at regular grocery stores, etc. I'll bet your Whole
Foods or Penzey's has it was well. One could, I'd imagine, whiz celery seeds in
an R2D2 grinder (sort of like doing cumin) but then you'd have to approach with
caution on quantity to get the same flavour without blowing someone's head off
with an overload.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Celery Potage
Categories: Five, Soups, Vegetables, Poultry, Udd
      Yield: 8 Servings

      2 qt Chicken Broth
    1/2    Stalk (not rib) celery;
           - chopped small *
      1 lg Onion; chopped
      6 cl Garlic; peeled, squished
           Salt & Pepper

Put two quarts of chicken broth (1 48 oz can and 1 16 oz
can) and add chopped celery, onion and garlic in the crock
  pot. Add salt and pepper.

Turn unit on to low and go to work.

When you come home get out the immersion blender (Cajun
motorboat) and puree potage until as smooth as you like.
Soup will be thick and creamy.

Taste for seasoning and add S&P as needed.

You can add a couple diced potatoes to this to stretch
it out a bit, if you like. If you use tatties - add more
  salt.

  * I first built this dish when I had a half stalk (bunch)
of celery in the ice box that was past using in salads or
anything requiring crunch - but, was too good to bin.
