Ruth made the same points, but the part of my mind that wants
things to be tidy says whoa! to this blurring of identities.

Similar confusions arise between Fry's Food supermarkets (some
of which sell small electronics) and Fry's Electronics (some of
which apparently sell small food items). The former is in fact
part of Kroger, see below. I don't understand how that goes
down, what the dynamics are, how these things are allowed to
happen.

  However,

Since the markets with which I am familiar are pretty mature
and saturated, I'm wondering what the wisdom of expansion
would be. I was surprised with Harris Teeter's attempted
inroads into the mid-Atlantic, but that has been fraught with
difficulty, as it didn't offer a differentiated product the
way Wegmans does. Turns out from my reading that Harris Teeter
and Lowe's Food are doing various switcheroos in your region,
so I guess that counts as expansion of a sort.

 I think it would be harder

As far as I am aware all the population centers are well
served already, and only a conscious abandonment by someone
else could pave the way for expansion in an area.

Kroger's been in trouble a bunch of times. So far so good,
though I didn't give it a chance when it started gobbling
up other companies in the '60s I think. I always thought
its merchandise was subpar as well. It's become an unstable
giant, sort of the United Airlines of the grocery business.

Cedar-Plank Salmon with Brown Sugar and Cracked Pepper
categories: fish, main
Serves: 4

4 salmon portions, skinless (6 oz each)
1 Tb dark brown sugar
1 Tb Wegmans Cracked Pepper Seasoning Shak'r
4 Tb Wegmans Horseradish Cream Sauce 
1 lg or 2 sm cedar planks, soaked 1 hr in water

Preheat grill on high 10 min.

Mix brown sugar and cracked pepper in small bowl.
     
Clean grill with wire brush.
     
Arrange salmon on plank; rub brown sugar mixture
evenly over fillets. Place plank with salmon on
grill; close lid. Reduce heat to medium; cook
salmon 12-15 min, until internal temp reaches 130F
in thickest part of salmon. Remove from grill; let
rest at least 2 min.
     
Top each fillet with 1 Tb horseradish cream sauce.
