The relative undiscomfort was kind of peculiar. It's mostly
cleared by now - I've made an effort to get more sleep than
usual, also more nonalcoholic fluids, also more chocolate.

Better than McD's, better than airports in the middle of nowhere.
But I needed something to eat (I was almost shaking), and though
there's a club there that I could use if I were flying the right
airline, I was on the wrong airline.

All experiences at Wendy's are interesting. You're lucky yours
didn't involve extensive acquaintance with porcelain appliances.

I find pretzel rolls generally pretty gross - salty and alkaliney
at once. Plus the natural brownness makes it easy for minimum-wage
drones in the kitchen to overbake them, and to me there's little
worse than overbaked bread. And overcooked meat and poultry.

And beyond Windows XP? No chance.

I may be asking your and Ron's advice on what to do next, now that
Microsoft finally is acting on its threat to be pills and stopping
XP support.

Monster Mac
cat: odd, main, sandwich, tastealike
yield: 1 (about 8 servings)

h - Monster Mac sauce
1 c mayo
4 Tb French dressing
8 ts sweet pickle relish
2 Tb finely minced white onion
2 ts white wine vinegar
2 ts sugar
1/4 ts salt
h - Monster Mac buns
1 ts sugar
300 ml lukewarm water
1 pk dried yeast
450 g plain white flour
10 ml salt
15 g butter
Milk or beaten egg for brushing
h - Monster Mac patties
1 Kg cheap mince (amount?)
2 Tb Worcester sauce
6 ts chilli (in any form powder/sauce/chopped fresh)
6 ts garlic
salt
pepper
oil (of some description)
h - Monster Mac assembly
1 lg onion, minced
1 lg iceberg lettuce, shredded
crinkle cut gherkins
10 cheese slices

Monster Mac sauce - simply mix all ingredients together and chill
for a couple of hours before tasting; this allows the flavours to
really combine. If it is too vinegary/pickley then add a bit of
mayo and if it is vice versa add a bit more pickle until it tastes
right. Ideally this should be left overnight in the fridge,
stirring a couple of times as it chills.

Monster Mac buns - This recipe makes two buns which makes one burger.

Dissolve sugar into the water and sprinkle yeast on top. Leave in a
warm place for 10 min until it becomes frothy.

Sift flour and salt into a bowl, you might want to weigh out a bit
more than 450 g because it will go EVERYWHERE!

Add frothy yeast water to the flour and mix well until the dough
leaves the sides of the bowl clean (add more flour if needed but
patience is a virtue in this process!).

Knead 10 min on a floured surface. Cover with a tea-towel and let
double in size. A tip is to put the dough on a floured chopping
board and place under/next to a radiator, just speeds everything up.
Cut in two and knead again on a floured surface until firm (usually
a couple of min) and shape into greased dishes.

Cover with tea-towel and place back under radiator to double in
size again. Once doubled brush with milk/egg and place in a
preheated oven at 230C/450F for about 20 mins or when browned on
top. If using a non fan assisted oven you may need to swap the
bread around in the oven to get an even cooking.

Cool on a wire rack and when cool enough, slice in half. One bun
makes up the top and bottom of the Mac and half of the other makes
the middle bun as every Monster Mac should contain three layers of
bread.

Monster Mac patties - combine beef and seasonings. Make into
eight balls of equal size and then get squashing. It works well to
squash them out on foil - you will appreciate this when you come
to put the meat in the pan!

Try to make the patties slightly bigger than the buns to allow for
shrinking and try to keep them compact to stop them breaking apart.

In a very hot frying pan add a little bit of oil, you don't need
much as the fat will ooze. Add the patties and stand as far back
as possible because you have to slap them in and burning oil
hurts just a bit! Also be prepared to have a major clean up after
cooking and consumption.

Once the bottom side is browned and it fells safe to flip them
over, flip them over and finish cooking.
