Lola was not sufficiently poisoned, though she might have
gotten some kind of mental weirdness from the chocolate.
I found her hiding under my bed, as she must have sneaked
in when I was in the bathroom or something.

It is - they serve as anchor points from which further
forays can be made. I can deal with groups of complete
strangers, though that's not my preference. Annie is, as
she says, like a pig in mud in such situations.

They were, and entertainingly a day or two later at the
restaurant the waitress did not acknowledge me at all.

I have recently tried two bacon substitutes - one smoked then
fried beef point-cut brisket (two varieties, varying quality)
and the other smoke-flavored chicken lunch meat (nasty). It's
cool living in halal land for a while. Since I was last in
Malaysia the presence of the haram is much less apparent -
I took Lilli to a tapas bar where I'd had serrano ham before,
and it's all halal things now, even though it offers alcohol.
Religious conservatism is coming to the fore all kinds of
places now.

At the kitchen, it was an intact casserole, and when I got to
the table, I wasn't much thinking.

Nah, the meat disappeared into the freezer, sigh, but
better than the garbage.

I've had stroganoff with the sour cream omitted, and it was
not surprisingly beef stew. Red Square was a very noisy place,
but what in Las Vegas isn't? Fun, who knows. Depending on my
budget, I figure I could have picked a wide variety of
entertainment from what was there.

Mango Lassi
categories: Nepal, beverage
Yield: 1 batch

2 c natural yogurt
1 c whole milk
2 c ripe mango chunks
4 Tb sugar
1 ts cardamom seeds
1/2 ts salt
1 c crushed ice
Slivers of ripe mango for garnish

In low heat, bring milk to a boil. Add cardamom and simmer
at least 5 min. Allow cooling; strain milk to filter the
cardamom out.

In a blender, combine yogurt, milk, mango, sugar, salt,
ice, and cardamom flavored milk. Blend all ingredients to
a smooth drink. Pour in a drinking glass, garnished with
mango slivers. Serve immediately.
