Well, there is that primitive pleasure, but I can't see
paying the premium for that alone, without the other
benefits of corn on the cob.

The 24-hour clock, adopted most places, makes a lot of sense.
Which reminds me: I'm at my friend Rosemary's, and she
has an antique chiming clock, which she had repaired not so
long ago at great expense. A few hours ago it rang 13.

"What time is it when the clock strikes 13? Time to get the
clock fixed."

Stir-Fried Cabbage with Pork
categories: Singapore, main, vegetable, Chinese
servings: 2 to 4

1 hd cabbage, cut to shreds
3 cloves garlic, minced
olive oil
sesame oil
150 gm pork loin, sliced 1/2 cm thick
h - marinated with
1 Tb light soy
1 ds white ground pepper
1 ds Chinese five spice [M says: optional]
1 ts oyster sauce
- or any marinade seasoning you like
h - seasoning
1 Tb Oyster sauce
1 Tb Soy sauce

1) Fry garlic in two-thirds proportion olive oil and
one-third proportion sesame oil until fragrant.

2) Add pork and fry until cooked on the outside.
(Switch this with any other protein you like.)

3) Add cabbage.

4) Add seasoning and fry for 1 min on high heat.

5) Add 1/2water and cover lid to allow the cabbage
to simmer and cook to your preferred softness. I like
mine denture-soft without any crunch left, so that's
about 5 min on high heat. [M says - 2-3 min]

Adjust seasoning accordingly before serving.
