  The most interesting thing in all this conversation, such as Terrorists
and how to define them today, and trying to compare to WW2 or anyother
war, is while there is the Geneva Convention, and all is so well put
to provide a humane treatment all way round, sooner or later, as what
went on in all wars, or conflicts,the most organized plans, put into
the field, have to be re-engineered by those directly on the front
line, and in the heat of battle, sane men are stress out to such an
extent, it all goes out the window in a desperate senario to win.

  London and other citys, were open citys, and Hitler made it quite
clear he wanted no citys bombed.   It did not last long, as London
was bombed,  Coventry was wipedout!  And civilians were killed.
Air Marshall T. Harris was ordered to return what was done, thus
Bremen and Dresden, and a few other places were chewed up, with 
bombing, and yes, civilians were without doubt killed.  Hence
Air Marshal Harris was dubbed "Bomber Harris".

 I do believe that this was also said to Alexander.

 Whether the 8th USAF bommbed only Military and Industrial, thats
ok , but not after the war turned dirty, like they all do.
As for Lemay's firebommbing, well taken that the population
habits put them all so close together into a one square kilometre
area, there is no doubt it caused more deaths.  Fires generally
pick up air and that can feel like a hurricane, as more air
is sucked in, and thus the idea is a fire storm.

 Try think about what citizens in GB felt when the vees flew
over then the engines cutout?   Imagine what it felt when
the first missle came in and took out a block?  Be thankful
that the nuclear material coming from Japan to Germany in
the Japanese Navy Sub was sunk off the coast of Brazil.

 I don't think today, we have any idea of these times and
what people had to go through in these places, on both sides
except they, after the wars, had their lives forever changed
and doomed to a life time of horror nightmares, that only
were released when they died.

 Civilians also support their leaders, and as well they 
oppose them, and usually form underground networks to help
rid themselves of...or they might spy for the other side.

 The bombshelter of WW2 is still in some homes in GB, it
consists of what looks like half or a drain from a well
sized pipe ...which you first digout just deep enough
so a family can sit in below the surface line. On top of
the metal, which fits around the hole, you pile on the
earth, and whatever, and then pray you are not hit.
The location too is usually the far end of the yard
getting a far as one can from the house.

 My sister, and family used to dive between beds
with a materess thrown on top, and then also with greater
faith anything else, and then they'd dive in there.
I guess the enemy thought we were a military target,
but this was all done to demoralize the people into
forcing Mr, Churchill to surrender.
