Oh, I also had them in VABCH too.  I just didnt have that much trouble getting
them to go away.  Like a plague of mosquitos, they'd come out and no matter
how many you swatted, there was another waiting to come over and suck your
time up with their desires.  Each was easy to swat, but it didnt stop the next
one from trying for a little suck-up.

Be that as it may, I found the *average* Souther Baptists in VABCH were good
neighbors who didnt cotton to bothering folks door to door.  It was more of an
abberation of a few and the normal ones didnt particularily like getting
tarred and feathered over the actions of the few and would try to stop them.

I'd say the only really bad experience with them in VABCH was when Charlotte
was a toddler and we tried a local kid-care center run by a local SB church. 
The experiences there were very negative, but had *nothing* to do with the
religion.  Just an overly controlled place.  See, Charlotte had never had a
swingset (she was not quite yet 4) so on her first excursion to the playfield,
*they* didnt watch out and she got knocked over by another kid.

Instead of telling the other kid to be a little more careful then showing
Charlotte what to watch out for, they put her in a room by herself and called
us to tell us she was retarded.  I found her crying quietly all by herself
looking out the window at all the kids playing and wanting to join in but told
she had to sit alone in a room and just watch.  They even gave me pamphlets on
'special ed' that I should enroll her in!  Needless to say, I took her home
and never darkened their doorstep again.

A week later, we enrolled her in a local Montesori (sp?) place and told them at
the onset that she'd only had 1 day in a childcare place and what had
happened.
There were no problems at all other than Charlotte was a bit afraid at the
start.  She did later show a small development problem, but not at all related
to anything the first church run daycare would have known about.  She has mild
dyslexia.  A bit of extra work with training methods specific to that and
she's fine.  It's also not suprizing as Don and I both have it so she had a
goodly chance of it.

Grin, I still cant spell worth a damn!
