Discretion is the better part of valor. i.e. they don't wish to fraternize
with humans.

One makes a deliberate attempt to hide. Avoiding is going out of their way
to 'avoid' an incident. No fear involved, just caution.

BS...I can tell you've never run into a bull moose in the woods.

Please go into the woods and make a point of approaching a bull moose,
face to face. He's got nothing to worry about, as he's 3 times your weight
and has more weapons at hand than you could carry. Give him a good look in
the eye and then tell me he's scared of you.

That she prefers to avoid a confrontation doesn't mean she's afraid.
