HaHAHHAHAHAHA... Don't make me laugh.

Doug Myers got submissions of articles fairly well. When Doug passed
away, Warren Bonner took over. There has been debate as to if Warren
was chosen by Doug or just installed due to the sudden death and
vacancy left by Doug.

When Doug passed away, the program and batch files to produce the
Fidonews were a close guarded secret. Whoopee. It took some doing to
get a person that had the program to release it to Warren.

After Warren Bonner took over, there were a few articles. Then they
started to drop off. Not the fault of Warren. He put his heart into
the job. Most articles were either by me or Warren.... or pulled from
the Fidonews echo threads and published as articles. Possibly where
some get the misconception that the Fidonews echo and the Fidonews
publication are the same thing. Towards the end of Warren's time, a
battle was brewing over and between the backbones and other things
(since when is there not a conflict in Fidonet?). :(

Warren's eyesight started to fail and he had to give up the
editorship. He choose me since I had been supplying many articles and
had written the batch file that is now used to create and publish the
Fidonews. (I still use it to write the articles that I submit)

When I took over, there were a few articles at first. Then, less and
less. I held the policy that no submission should be refused. I live
with that decision and belief in sorrow to this day. There were some
that sent in some stuff that should not have been published. I published
them, as I thought was right. When the pressure and other things got
to be too much, I started looking for someone to replace me. Björn
Felten had sent in a few articles, if I remember right, and had helped
me with the program to create the Fidonews publication.. He made it
possible to use the high ascii characters such as "ö" in the Fidonews.
I chose him as my replacement. The decision was met with mixed
reviews, but accepted.

It seems that the people of Fidonet have to test each new editor to
see what they can get away with. BJörn was no exception. :(  At first,
there were articles from Users and Sysops. Then less and less. That
seems to be the standard.

I may have missed some points in this recital, but I'm fairly close in
my memory of this... I think. You may check the back issues of the
Fidonews to bare me out. I would recommend this. As I get older, some
memories begin to fade.

So, there you have it. I think I wrote something like this before when
asked a question. I might even have published it. Can't remember for
sure.

Anyway. The premiss, concept, thought, idea conception or whatever,
that it is all Björn's fault is like so many other things in Fidonet.
It is either:

A) Pure BS.
B) Based on the individuals point of view.
C) Used as needed to stir up whatever is desired.
D) All of the above and more.

Personally, I vote for "D".

Of course, I also agree with Mr. Pulitzer in that "A Newspaper should
have no friends".

BTW: Have you written an article and sent it in, mate, eh? ;)
