Ärende: Elist mergers

When you wrote about the choice that was made by 400 moderators, you wrote in
the present tense, not the past tense. Yes, I suppose in the (short?) time
between Adrian turning his list over to Peter and the Backbone Guys recognising
Thom as the Z1 e-list keeper, they had indeed a free choice.

But that ended the minute Thom was recognised as "the" Z1 e-list keepers.
Sure;y among those 400 moderators that are there now, some only came on the
scene /after/ that.

So we don;t know if they all made a free choice.

MVDV>> Had I been aware of it, yes. You are missing the point

Who is to blame is irrelevant is beside the point. The point is that I
personally experienced that a list that can be up to a month out of date is
useless.

No you didn't. The simplest would have been to accept the successor appointed
by Adrian and send the updates to Peter.

MVDV>> You should have my key by now.

So that part worked.

 > We'll eventually see if my encrypted response to you gets

I got two messages from you. One saying "ignore this too" and one with an
ecncrypted message and a public key. They were routed via 1"123/500. The
messages routed via your host did not make it.

As you feared I have not been able to decrypt them however. My vesrion pf PGP
(2.6.1) can not handle it.

I took a look at the url in thge comment line of your key, but I am not sure if
I want to use /their/ version. The riginal PGP by Phil Zommerman was completely
free, but it seems now a commercial frim has taken charge of it and their are
all kinds of strings attached. I'll have to consider if I can trust them...

 > It remains to be proven that we can each trust the keys that we
 > will have exchanged. That is one of the problems with PGP.

I am aware of that problem but how is it different from sending a mod update
for the first time? You send a message with a password to the e-list keeper.
How does he know the message with the password comes from you?

MVDV>> So your were just kicking up dust and trying to get me to
MVDV>> do some needless work when you challenged me to explain how
MVDV>> a message should be encrypted. Good to know you employ such
 MVDV>> tactics.

 > I never said that I did not know how to establish secure

So do people who send mod updates to the e-list keeper.
