===============================================================================
RW>>>>> They don't bother in Mexico either. Know why?
BF>>>> Haven't been to Mexico so I haven't a clue.
RW>>> Because they also sleep with the terrorists.
BF>> Oh, and what terrorist acts have they done?
RW> None yet...but it's a well known fact that Arabic terrorists are entering
RW> Mexico, learning how to speak and dress like a native and then paying a
RW> coyote to get them across the border into the US. Many have been arrested
RW> and either detained or released, depending on what HLS laws were being
RW> enforced at the time.
What happend to innocent until proven guilty? They haven't done anything but
they are already convicted. Nice.
BF>>>>>> in Finland it should be in my pocket and in USA it should be in the
BF>>>>>> suitcase.
RW>>>>> Well obviously the Fins have it figured out. If you carry it in your
RW>>>>> pocket, it's easier to confiscate.
BF>>>> You still haven't got it I see.
RW>>> No, I think it's the other way around.
BF>> Really?
RW> Yeup...
Have you any idea what had happend if Janis would have had the lighter in
her suitcase?
BF>>>> If it was in my pocket it wouldn't be confiscated.
RW>>> Now I know you don't get it. If it's in your pocket, you will lose it
RW>>> because when you get to the gate, you have to empty your pockets and go
RW>>> through a metal detector before you gain entry. If there's no lighters
RW>>> allowed on board the airplane, that's a foregone conclusion.
BF>> That's not what the Fins answered me and so far the one in my pocket
BF>> haven't been any problem.
RW> The Fins aren't very worried about terrorists. Try it at a US port of
RW> entry.
So why did they open my suitcase and removed the lighter if they wern't worried
about terrorists?
BF>>>> One lighter per person and it should be in the pocket.
RW>>> Not here.
BF>> How do you know that?
RW> For one, I know people who've had theirs taken. For another, Janis just
RW> stated here that hers was confiscated on her flight to or from Las Vegas.
And that's just what I mean with it's a joke.
BF>>>> You are not allowed to use a cell phone either so that should also be
BF>>>> confiscated?
RW>>> You are allowed to use a cell phone, when the flight crew deams it to be
RW>>> not harmful to the aircraft.
BF>> And that is during flying and as far as I know (at least here) it isn't
BF>> allowed to use them in any plane above a certain hight because then they
BF>> will reach too far and that can disturb the systems hand-over to another
BF>> base station.
RW> Cell phones, by their nature are very short waved RF devices, in fact on
RW> the order of micro waves. If you get too high in the air, it's probable
RW> that you won't be able to reach a cell site to make a call. Not to mention
RW> the Faraday affect on a hand-held RF device without an external antenna.
RW> External meaning on the outside of the aircraft.
So? They are just as harmful whenver they are used and I don't buy your
explanation about the Faraday affect since I can sit in my car 10 000 m from
the nearest base and use it without any problem.
BF>>>> And you are not allowed to drink anything else than what they sell on
BF>>>> the plane either so the bottles in the hand luggage can also be
BF>>>> confiscated.
RW>>> What!? That's a new one. If there's a restriction against bringing your
RW>>> own, then they're just wanting you to buy theirs...
BF>> You can bring it but not drink it.
RW> I think there's something about the consumption of alcohol on long flights
RW> that tends to dehydrate the body, not to mention that the affects of
RW> alcohol are supposedly tripled by the altitudes traveled.
Oh, this was news to me. So you think that all that's going on on long flights
is
to drink alcohol and that we get more drunk at 10 000 m than at ground level?
Tripled effect you say. That means that after 10 cl whiskey and a beer I should
have had over 30 cl. Don't you think I should have been rather drunk by then?
Well, I was't. In fact, I didn't feel a thing.
BF>>>> If they take the lighter, why don't they take the cigaretts as
BF>>>> well?
RW>>> Because the cigarette is only flamable when you apply an outside source
RW>>> of fire. You don't think very logically, do you.
BF>> Oh, so matches doesn't have the same effect as a lighter?
RW> Where do you see anything I mentioned about that? I said that tobacco is
RW> not self igniting, meaning that you would need an outside source to get it
RW> to burn; matches, lighters, etc...
BF>> To set things on fire?
RW> ?
Matches can lit a cigarette and they can also lit a fuse so they both set
things
on fire but you get to keep the matches. Strange, innit?
RW>>>>> If you do smoke, that's too bad, because you're not allowed to smoke
RW>>>>> on-board US flights (thank gawd for that little miracle).
BF>>>> I'm not allowed to smoke on any flight as far as I know but that
BF>>>> doesn't make it illegal for me to have a lighter.
RW>>> Depends(tm)
BF>> On what?
RW> Where you're flying, for one.
So having a lighter in the US is more dangerous than having one in Thailand?
RW>>>>> There's also not many places to light up in US airports (my specific
RW>>>>> experience is San Diego, Kansas City, Denver, San Antonio and Chicago
RW>>>>> - did I mention that I hate commercial flying), thus no reason to even
RW>>>>> have a lighter, until you get to the parking lot.
BF>>>> But....but the lighter was confiscated....
RW>>> Have you noticed that you're using too many . in your elipses'?
BF>> Have you noticed that you are starting to sound like Frank when he's out
BF>> of arguments?
RW> Whether or not Frank and/or I have 'run out of arguements' depends on the
RW> person with whom we are having a discussion. If the person is as dense as
RW> a fence post, it probably looks that way to them, but to those who're a
RW> bit more of a hip thinker, it probably passes as logical.
Still out of arguments I see.
BF>>>> And there are smoke-rooms at Gothenburg, Stockholm, Helsinki, Athens,
BF>>>> Bangkok, Puerto Plata (Domenican) Varna (Bulgaria) and at every little
BF>>>> island in Greece but without a lighter it's rather difficult to make
BF>>>> the damn thing caught fire.
RW>>> Have you noticed that none of those places are in the US?
BF>> And....? Doesn't anyone smoke in the US?
RW> Asked the fence post...
I just did.
BF>>>> Affter 10 hours in the air I don't want to wait until I get to the bus
BF>>>> where they not may even have a electric lighter.
RW>>> After 10 hours, you've nearly got that nasty habit licked. Why light up
RW>>> now?
BF>> That's my problem, not the airport securities.
RW> So why do you continue that nasty habit?
It's not even one of your problems either.
BF>>>> Haven't seen a match in years, are they still available?
RW>>> Where do you buy your cigarettes, in a candy store?
BF>> I make my own from raw tobaco ordered by mail so....?
RW> LOL! I'll bet they'll sell you some matches too.
Nope, not on their ordering list.
