Not necessarily so. In 1996, there was an echo created that was called
NEWSCHAT* which was used for the discussion of Fidonews articles by
sysops, etc.. The FIDONEWS echo was an administrative echo used for
FIDONEWS operations. At that time, there was no FIDONEWS 'moderator' per
se. Although the Elisting showed "Fidonews Editor" in the 'Moderators'
slot, the echo was listed by the then Fidonews Editor, Zorch Fresberg.

At the same time, Fidonews was also created; FIDONEWS wasn't used for
anything but article submissions, discussion was disallowed, accept for
brief chatter back and forth between the Editor and an author or
subscribers, which were usually *Cs back then.

Ray Brown was a friend of the Snooze editor. Of course, this listing is
from the echolist I have, published in 1998.

Fidonews first appears in the echolist in July, 1996 and was created by
the then editor, Chris Baker. As I said, it was not a public discussion
echo when it was created. Later, Zorch Fresberg, WD Bonner or Frank (??
his name) allowed the echo to be used for informal discussion among
sysops.

Not so. WD Bonner, the editor, had Frank (?? what's his name?) a Fidonews
column contributor as his moderator.
